Why more dangerous though?I'm no virologist so I might be wide of the mark here but I'd imagine the issue to be thus...If you introduce a new variant to a country that has hardy any restrictions you are giving that variant the chance to mutate into something much more dangerous.
It won't be for a week, it will be here for at least 2 months. Otherwise what is the point in introducing measures in the first place? Long as possible for the maximum effect, forgetting the details along the way.So if its all true...everyone has to wear a mask on the bus or in a shop for a week whilst it's confirmed that the new variant isn't a massive danger.
No big deal, everyone's happy, winner winner chicken dinner
Or we could keep it out by locking down.. I've grown fond of the far more dangerous delta varient. None of these mild variants for me.Outstanding idea. Let it run rampant so we can have more mutations.
I really doubt it will only be for a week. They can't change the rules that often. So if its all true...everyone has to wear a mask on the bus or in a shop for a week whilst it's confirmed that the new variant isn't a massive danger.

Thinking about booking a trip for April, but worried about flights potentially getting cancelled if this blows up as bad as they are warning.
Anyone had trouble getting their money back from cancelled flights or did you change date?
Is there anyway I can cancel if the flight is still on but the destination is in lockdown?
I don’t wanna throw money away unnecessarily
Needing to wear a mask on the train to Goodison on Wednesday but not once you are in the ale house and then the ground seems a bit daft..
The only times I can ever remember seeing staff down on the platforms or on trains was back pre-COVID at places like Bank at rush hour or Oxford Circus in the evenings when the service was rammed and they were literally acting as crowd control to make sure people weren’t getting pushed onto the tracks between trains and to tell idiots who had already had the door close on them four straight times to just wait on the next train which would be along in less than a minute. No idea how that would work on the DLR as it is designed to be unmanned. Heck, you don't ever see anyone on the tube, and I can't remember the last time I actually saw a member of staff on a train either.

I can't see how it will be feasible, especially if the volume of people remains reasonably high. One would imagine they’ll be relying on gate line staff and BTP patrols again.
Personally I hope they hire a load of roided-up cage fighters to just batter all those on the tube who, with glib smugness written all over their mask less faces, stare at those passengers who are doing what the announcements politely ask everyone to do.
Nice one mate.Depends on the firm really but a lot of them are offering refunds on cancellations and they tend to be pretty good, it can take a while though. Is there anyway you can place a deposit and pay the rest later I would try that.
I have noticed that a lot of flights in January and February are being cancelled. It's probably due to low demand, quite a lot people probably aren't willing to take the risk and would rather book for the summer.
