Oh I'm not questioning that, I'm fully aware vaccinations don't prevent you catching something, they're only supposed to limit the damage if you do...
I just find it wierd how we all managed to safely avoid it pre vaccination, yet all caught it post jab without any change of routine...
It may we'll be a coincidence but it has got me questioning stuff....
Like having two girls and seeing the effects it's had on their mum, coupled with several female health care professionals agreeing that they're have been numerous reports of similar issues has got me thinking if it's worth the risk of getting them jabbed if and when we're asked to
Was this actually the case though?

Even if you didn't change routine, the rest of the country did?

Are you telling me you haven't changed routine at all in the last 4-6 months?

Anyway, I see New Zealand swiftly realised zero Covid was impossible

Yeah. Our government is slowly starting to wake up to the fact the delta variant in 2021 is a different beast, and harder to control, than the initial variant in March 2020.
It's a good thing in a way, there might be a little bit of pain over the next few months when COVID rips through the population, but hopefully if we get to 80%+ of the eligible population fully vaccinated hospital admissions will be manageable. Then we can open back up to the rest of the world.

Hospital figures - 96 deaths were announced today, down 35 on yesterday and down 20 on last Wednesday. 64 deaths were in English hospitals, down 62 on yesterday and down 23 on last week. The 7 day rolling average falls to 94.43

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 143 deaths were announced today, down 23 on yesterday and down 7 on last Wednesday. The 7 day rolling average falls to an even 110

For the 60 day cut off, 176 deaths were announced today, down 14 on yesterday and the exact same total as last Wednesday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 134.71

Ivermectin for Covid 19 has to be in the mix but not quite as stupid as the fad around 1900 for using Heroin as a treatment for coughs.

Actually heroin (opioids generally) have anti-tussive effects so itmakes sense...bit of overkill (excusing the "in poor taste" pun) for just a cough though

Somewhat off topic but the posters interested in Covid are more likely to be interested in this important development too.

On Wednesday, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced it has given its stamp of approval to a vaccine against malaria for children for the first time, after encouraging results from a pilot study that has reached hundreds of thousands of children across parts of sub-Saharan Africa since 2019. The vaccine, called Mosquirix and made by GlaxoSmithKline, is far from perfect — it produces about a 30 percent reduction in severe malaria in fully vaccinated children, which is lifesaving but smaller than would be hoped for.

But the WHO recommendation is a step forward in the fight against one of humanity’s deadliest remaining infectious disease enemies. It will likely lead to countries adding the vaccine to their childhood immunization programs starting immediately. And it’s only the first step of many to come. Researchers are already working to improve on Mosquirix, and with a combination of different approaches, it might be possible for the world to significantly cut down on malaria’s staggering human toll for good.

Wasn’t quite sure whether to put this hear or in the EU thread but I was walking round the city yesterday thinking about all the empty buildings with everyone now working from home a lot more.

What the government should do is buy some of these buildings, convert them to residential, one bedroom flats, use the flats to house the homeless in the city so that they have an address for employment and then use the previously homeless to fill the gaps in the labour supply that have been impacted by brexit et al.

Granted this won’t have a 100% success rate, probably nowhere near, but what it would do is improve a number of issues at once.

So, vaccine passports for Wales, and all because someone due to vote couldn’t get their Zoom to work ?
It’s well meant obviously, but totally impractical. Stewards trying to check 70,000 fans phones as they enter the Millennium Stadium? Good luck with that.

It’s actually really quick.
