It shouldn't have been the lowest figure for a month though. It clearly should have been higher than the previous sunday. I'm not saying it should have been a 100 but it should have been 20 or so higher than it was.
Best to ignore daily figures and focus on the rolling averages - the daily figures are and always have been volatile.

Weekly average figures are definitely better. I was just pointing out that its odd that the lowest sunday figures in quite a while are followed by the highest day in many months.

28 day cut off, tuesdays are always higher than other days because of weekend lag

I think it was to be expected but still, it's not the end of the world

Let me explain what I meant.

I think the rise was to be expected and that's not the end of the world or should signal that the reopening was wrong. It probably correlates to two weeks previous when peaks were shooting up - yesterday there were what in terms of deaths reported? And nothing over the weekend?

So, it's catch up and also shows that the cases were going up 2 weeks ago.

Cases started to plateau last week so deaths shouldn't really rise much above today, depending on how they count the weekend figures. So next Tuesday might be into the 200s, but it all has to be taken into context.

It's obviously very sad but I think that goes without saying for most things in this thread, it's very sad when there's 9 deaths.

Just speaking to my mate who lives out in NZ.

He's not getting vaccinated.

As well as those two countries (Aus) got it at first, can't help but think they've really cocked up with vaccine hesitancy.

He was like "studies have shown getting loads of vitamin D and magnesium is good for keeping you healthy'

I know comments like that aren't limited to NZ, loads of people are probably saying that here. And of course, being healthy and having lots of vitamins will likely help you be healthier, but it doesn't stop you getting it...

I tried to explain, told him what I've just had and that's with one jab. But he's not having it, and I'm not going to boss him, it's his choice. I suggested that they'll introduce it for travel and he said vaccine hesitancy is really common over there, nobody he knows is getting it... so he doubts they'd introduce something like that.

Can't help but think they really took a wrong approach in that regard. They waited for it to play out in Europe instead of going for it themselves.
