Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

I'm pretty sure it's law but, if it isn't already, it will be in mid-August.

I'm going to make sure I'm double jabbed by then. Then I don't have any risk (unless I get it).

But as I keep banging on about, all they have to do to help solve people not isolating is actually be realistic about what they expect from people.

10 days - far too much, especially with no release test.

Should be 5 days to a week maximum with release tests. Easy to do and people are more likely to follow it.

There's no science behind the 10 day thing. Initially it was 2 weeks. It's just another arbitrary number.
It's not law, only guidance.

Wear. A. [redacted]. Mask.

yeah, I'm happy to and think people should.

My only caveat is it's easy for me to say, because I don't wear them all the time like some people have to, and that eventually, the aim is for masks to not be required so people are going to have to get used to them not being mandatory.

For the ease of just keeping things 'simple', I think the government should have just kept them as mandatory for a bit longer.

My daughter (aged 12) tested positive yesterday on her lateral flow…we both went for PCR tests yesterday and just had results back, she’s positive and I'm negative.
She’s missed her last 2 days of school and also had to isolate and missed 10 days in June due to close contact with a positive case, even though nothing wrong with her.

Feel so sorry for the kids and the amount of school they are missing is grim.
That said, rather she got it now if she had to get it as finish for summer today, so won’t be missing much anyway.

I’m double jabbed so not overly concerned for me and I’m healthy overall.
I’m supposed to isolate, but on Monday I don’t have to, it’s absolutely mental.

Nobody should have to isolate due to 'contacts'. Isolation should only happen when you test positive. Over 1m a week will be isolating soon and thats with probably 50% of people avoiding using the app and writing fake names on sign in sheets. The process is completely broken.

The app is, weirdly, working exactly as people wanted it to.

But the whole idea of contract tracing is extremely flawed.

From next Monday, double jabbed people won't have to isolate if they are a contact of someone who tests positive, unless they themselves are showing symptoms.

So it's another incentive for people to get their second jab.

You may still be asked by NHS Test and Trace themselves (not the app) just to isolate if you live with someone that’s tested positive.
