4 week delay, has to be done, blame the idiots still not taking it seriously

I blame the people who decided to allow flights to continue from India for weeks whilst they had extremely high case numbers. Works well the red list..

Oh well... Like no one thought the date had to moved weeks ago.

The stupidity of announcing data not dates is the way out and then in the next sentence announcing date of June 21st as end of restriction "freedom day" alright.

Just waiting for the media to do a complete U turn and start wringing their hands together, about how dreadful the non lifting of restrictions is.

Once the G7 has finished I wouldn't be surprised if another super variant is identified somewhere. Thats a newsworthy story for the media.

Indeed, and they should really be hauled over the coals as to why India was treated differently than Pakistan and Bangladesh - though given we *still* lack a working detection and suppression system it was properly always going to get in here and spread.

Which country with a reasonably high number of cases has a good track and trace system? Other than countries with almost zero covid none of the others seem to have a system that different to the UK system.

“needlessly scared” as if the pandemic doesn’t exist

Vaccines and their effectiveness also exist.

I've benefited a lot from the ability to WFH but I am aware of the 'I'm alright Jack' attitude because I am seeing it a lot on here and other social media. People don't care about the suffering of other people, in this case the working class who predominantly work in hospitality and have been the most severely impacted, as long they can continue to get out of bed 5 minutes before they're due to start work, so they'll regurgitate any sort of news they can to maintain this. It's not surprising but it is sad.

The whole point of locking down is to keep hospitals functioning and below a breaking point - the scientists can approximate numbers that will end up in hospital in the coming wave. At the minute, if restrictions are lifted, the situation risks reaching this breaking point. The fundamentals aren’t scaremongering or agenda fitting.... sure criticise some individuals or news corps... but please don’t forget the real point of it, and how you can help.

COVID is also killing the working class at twice the rate of the well off.
