I believe standard face masks are next to useless after an hour or so like. Indeed they're pretty much only recommended for people who are already infected to sort of keep the virus in rather than out.

In an ICU, 99% of the time no one wears them. The only time they do is when they are actually doing a procedure on a patient, be it giving them a pill, a wash, a line, whatever. Same with gloves and a plastic apron. And all the kit is used exactly once, then binned.

Its done to prevent the spread of infection between patients, not for the protection of nurses.

Granted, in this emergency, that ^^^^^ protocol might have altered.

Yes, obviously, 3M masks and the like. However your post mentioned just a face mask and one that hasn't been fit test A.K.A. one of those crap flimsy blue ones that have been proven to not be of much use in stopping contracting a virus.

If China has had no new cases. Is it because of the draconian measures they've taken against their populace. And has it worked?

Personally if they pissed against my leg, they'd tell me it was raining. That's the way I look at it.

However if they have locked everything down. It stands to reason cases would diminish.

If it's worked and it's a big if and they are legitimately testing. Just what is on the table here for us?

What steps will our respective governments be compelled to take and how our societies going to react?

Big questions that nobody can answer definitely. I guess all of us can do at this moment is watch this crash and then deal with the aftermath.

I have a friend who has lived out in Sydney for a fair few years now. She usually hangs around in the higher circles of society: shamelessly flaunting wealth etc.

Based on her Instagram posts, she's clearly still out partying and socialising every single evening with countless other people, which to me is just pure reckless.

I suspect it may be because they're behind us in terms of cases and deaths (1,068 and 7 respectively), but surely they can see what's happening everywhere else.

Initially was going to reply to you quoting a number of your posts in this thread that could certainly be viewed as condescending. I obviously didn’t because I’m not sure it’d serve any purpose and I’d probably be wrong anyway

I think it bears remembering that this is a very stressful time for pretty much all of us , almost certainly more so those with loved ones in high risk positions . I’d suspect a lot of people will be less measured in their responses than they would have been only a couple of days ago .

so can’t we all just get along

I think that’s incredibly harsh to be honest . I understand that’s your position but To have no sympathy for people who Ultimately May Die seems really extreme.

Personally think for them to stay open they need to enforce the use of some form of glove when entering.

That would be a good idea for supermarkets too. Disposable ones handed out on entry and binned on the way out

They chose to watch horses run around mate knowing the circumstances and had the option of not going and still went ahead with it, If they don't care why should I?
