Going to be an interesting legal battle - given the Diamond Princess outbreak, and the typical age profile of their customers, you can understand why cruise lines would prefer to have vaccinated passengers.

The workaround to avoid a legal battle is exactly what that concert promoter you posted about the other day was doing. Don’t require passengers to provide proof of vaccine to board, but require it instead to secure their tickets at a given price. If the cost of an unvaccinated ticket is 50x that of a vaccinated one, the problem will take care of itself.

But its not like being anti mask and anti vax though is it.

Which was what I was accused of.
Also this surge testing is very well organised with the army carrying it out. It's a good ploy in these circumstances although in general use It's probably a waste of time and money.

Still means will have to provide vaccination documentation to get the lower rate though so probably will be legal challenges as to whether that invades medical privacy - and you know there will be some seniors rich and stubborn enough to hire a lawyer to take it to court even if DeSantis doesn’t.

Can't see the problem myself.
If you want to go on that ship you need to be vaccinated.
Just like if I want my cats in a cattery during the hols, they have to have vaccination certificate.
It's a public health issue,a responsibility, nothing to do with rights.
I expect incoming fire but that's my view.

I agree. Plenty of places you cant go unless you have a jab or a course of tablets for all sorts of stuff.

Pretty much all public school systems require proof of certain vaccines to enroll your children. Are those requirements routinely being challenged in court for privacy violations? I honestly don't know. I'm sure you're right about some rich old people trying to drag it out in court. Once again, another shining example of Conservatives believing that businesses only have the right to refuse service to the type of people they view as undesirable.

Fully agree, but Republicans generally see public health issues as infringements on individual rights as demonstrated by a slew of new laws

Some states not only allow a religious exemption from school vaccination requirement but also a philosophical exemption which probably (along with homeschooling) take the wind out of a lot of those who would otherwise sue. But there is no easy alternative to a cruise so wouldn’t be surprised if this even wound up in the Supreme Court!

It's a about carrot rather than more stick... Fact of the matter we are all in live trial and will be for years. If people on said shop have purchased before vaccination requirements then full refund must be offered if vaccination proof cannot offered.

I don’t think the issue is the cruise line refusing to offer refunds for people who aren’t vaccinated. The issue is that Florida’s idiotic governor signed a law that makes it illegal for the cruise line (or any business for that matter) to even so much as ask people if they’ve received the vaccine.
