Im not a doomer, but these figures are starting to concern me a little.

Not good really. This Indian variant seems to be a real stinker. If you go onto the UK map that's where nearly all these increases seem to be coming from. Our vaccines seem to be almost as effective against it so hopefully we won't see it spread much outside the areas already heavily infected.

Feel for the people living in those areas though. The vaccinations can't come soon enough for me. If I was under 30 and living in Bolton I'd take the AZ tomorrow if I could.

If that rise in figures starts to translate into hospital admissions and deaths, that`s the time to worry.

Stuff I`m reading, is saying that the younger people aren`t getting it too bad and most of the ones in hosy, are people who could`ve / should`ve been vaccinated.
Yeah, the vaccines really are the silver bullet we all hoped, so far.

We just need jabs jabs jabs.

Yeah the maps really flag up the problem areas

I would love to know, not just in Bolton but in all the area's that the Indian virus has taken hold, just how many of those infected and those hospitalised have been offered the vaccine and not taken it.

Am I correct in saying that you cannot have the vaccine if you are currently suffering from covid.? It was a question we were asked before getting our second jab.

You defo cant have the jab if you have the rona.

Also my wife went to get a vaccine and was refused due to medication she was taking for an ear infection, so there are lots of reasons why people havent had the vaccine.

People have had enough mate and just want to start living again, there`s nothing wrong with that.

We can`t stay in this limbo of restrictions forever, plus the goal posts seem to have moved from protecting the elderly and vulnerable and taking the pressure off the NHS, ( which has been done ) to the situation where we now find ourselves in, were the majority of people catching it are people who`ve chosen not to have the vaccine and everyone else would appear to be about to be penalised.

I know mate, but there is a halfway house that might keep the restrictions at bay and give you most of the freedoms back. People have given up where I am with mask wearing especially if they are old and been vaccinated - The I'm alright Jack crew.

Like I say let's hope the vaccines work to keep the numbers out of the hospitals to keep us out of any lockdowns. But if they don't they can only blame themselves.

Tricky decision if you are undergoing cancer treatment as cancer puts you at higher risk of bad outcomes yet vaccines likely to be less effective anyway.
For patients who have just had a stem cell transplant or received CAR T-cell therapy, who are typically receiving immunosuppressive therapy, we recommend that they delay COVID-19 vaccination until at least 3 months after they’ve completed treatment. That’s based on data that [other] vaccines have had limited efficacy during periods when these patients are their most immunosuppressed.

The data are a little less clear for patients who are getting aggressive chemotherapy, but for those who are receiving more intensive treatment regimens—for example, those starting initial therapy for leukemia—we recommend that they delay vaccination until their cell counts recover.

Those are the two main groups where I think there is agreement that they should delay COVID-19 vaccination, at least initially
