I don’t think supply is really an issue to be honest, 500-600k just seems to be the most we can consistently administer each day. I think it’s more a case of logistics and resources rather than supply. Pretty sure if we continue to average 500k a day we’ll be in a very good place come summer.

But I imagine the EU block on vaccines for the U.K. must be having an effect. It‘ll be one of those decisions that eventually bite the EU on the arse though....

The worry for me is the 21st June date - think unless negative tests before entry into places becomes mandatory temporarily it should really have waited until every adult over 18 had at least one dose even to help cut transmission as 18-30 will be going wild and most of those wont have had a vaccine.

Think its a bit too soon imo.

I think that’s one of those calculated risks they have to take - especially when you consider that they’ll rightfully expect vaccine hesitancy to be higher in younger people, so it’s not something they could hang their hat on. If we average 500k jabs a day, that’s another 20 million jabs to be given between now and the 21st June - probably a little over half of that will go on 2nd jabs, but the other half will give another 10 million people some protection.

2nd dose numbers have been stable but first doses have reduced substantially over the last month along with total vaccinations. It is a supply issue as was stated by the government. They claimed it would be for a month but it appears to still be an issue.

I'd double check where you're getting that from as it's not true (or, at least, it's not reflected in the official figures).

Total vaccines administered since the 1st April:

Where is this 'substantial' decline?

First doses have declined, but total doses is still fairly consistent.

It's looking unlikely they'll hit the July first dose target now though unless things significantly pick up speed.

Indeed, but that's been the plan all along. If we can administer 500k per day, but 400k people are due their 2nd dose 12 weeks after their 1st, we only have 100k for 1st doses. However, this does mean that once the first tranch of 2nd doses is completed in the coming weeks, the number of vaccines available for 1st doses will go back up to about 400k per day.

As for whether we'll give every adult a jab by July, god only knows - this analysis seems to suggest we can:

UK could share 20 pc of doses worldwide and still vaccinate all adults in July, analysis suggests

The UK could donate 20 per cent of its available coronavirus vaccines and remain on track to vaccinate all adults by the end of July, analysis suggests, amid rising frustrations that wealthy countries are “hoarding” jabs.

Based on current supply forecasts, a decision to share a fifth of doses with poorer nations from June would push back Britain’s vaccination timeline by just 10 days, according to analysis by Unicef and the life sciences research facility Airfinity.

dunno mate, it's not like people haven't been living it up more as of late even in outdoor settings.

Most gigs and stuff are all not happening until late July at the earliest.

People have worried about the dates being 'too soon' all along but, so far, there's no evidence that they actually are.

Outdoor and indoor transmission are two totally different beasts though mate.

I just want us to get it right - im not arsed waiting until 21st July for example before I can go back into a nightclub in the knowledge all the tanked up lads around me have been jabbed.
