WHY these events are being done.

Its nowt to do with spiv economies or such like bull. Its to learn and/or confirm what the scientists think they know.

A year ago, tracing this thing and its mutations was akin to tracing a robber who left a million different finger prints in your house. Now, they can pin it down to a few dabs.

Thats cos they test test and test again. And at some point they have to have real life studies. Cos real life has to return.
Ha Ha Ha. Such faith in a bankrupt testing system.

There's nothing laser like or clinical or noble about this. It was measuring air movement in crowds and will be of importance to the events sector in terms of how they organise the flow of people in and out of indoor venues.

At base this was all about a city being tested - not like a like a lab rat but like a canary in a coal mine. "Is it safe to go down there again? We dont know; let's test it on the people of Liverpool and see what we can get away with again now with half the population having had the vaccine.".

That's about the strength of it.

Lol.

It was a canary in the coal mine event. Nothing more to it than that.

This was businesses backed to the hilt by the local state looking to claw in cash again getting their way...just as we got infections under control here.

What reading would you suggest to persuade me otherwise?

Start with Prof/Dr Joe DeRisi.

Then try Dame Kate Bingham.

Then get back to us with canaries and coal mines.

It’s certainly true that the number of pubs had been continually falling for many years, but it does look like it has bottomed out. The sector itself is going through massive change, the scruffy old boozer is being replaced by much bigger and better funded places by the major brewers. Marstons for instance had a deliberate policy of getting rid of smaller pubs (hence we were able to buy ours) but then putting large amounts of money into those providing accommodation and meals etc.
So I would sum it up by saying, yes without doubt the number of pubs has been in decline for many years, but those now left standing are changing and improving their offerings so the sector is quite healthy and being invested in. Again, just in our own pub, we have replaced every single piece of kit from fridges, glass washers etc to all of the kit in the cellar. The whole of the interior had a major refurbishment plus replacement of all furniture during the first lockdown (as a lot of pubs did) and ripped out and updated all the toilets. The outside had a similar facelift and we’ve spent a serious amount of money doing it. I’ve noticed quite a few other village pubs in the surrounding areas with scaffolding up and major refurbs going on. Everyone is looking to up their game and bring in the families who will provide tomorrow’s customers. Those still standing after years of decline and a year of Covid will prosper.....
Fair play to you mate for putting in the time and money
