This Kopite divvy is doing my head in.

Liverpool director of public health Matt Ashton said the club event, which will also run on Saturday, was "crucial" for the local economy.
"In Liverpool, it's over 40% of our economic output. So it's really important we start to get the economy opening again."
He said clubbers who test positive in the next five days would be expected to self-isolate and would be spoken to by contact tracers.

1/ WTF is his concern with what the local economy is up to? He is there (apparently) to make sure the public health of the city is in good order. It's an obvious conflict of interests that he's mithered with how many tills start ringing again.

2/ He expects those kids to self isolate after getting Covid19 from those events? What 'kin world is he living in? The useless sack of excrement.

I think the idea of the event was as much of a logistical run through, hence the neg tests before going. If they dont follow up with tests for the attendees, then its been pointless.

If they do, then the data they collect will be important.

Nope. He hasn’t said this
*sigh*

“The path from here on in does look better than the last year but there are going to be lots of bumps and twists on the road from here on in.

“There will definitely be another surge at some point"

U.K. vaccines....535K given yesterday, including 405k of second jabs....total first jabs 34,346,273....total second vaccinations 14,940,984.....giving a total of 49,287,257......come on guys you have to feel pride in this.....

Even if they were chased up by testers, it''d be too late by that point for many people who will have come into contact with them and become infected.

The whole thing was dreamt up by desperate figures in the local authority, the business sector they obey and principally serve and national government who want to know how far they can push the envelope in opening up.

The losers: Mr and Mrs Merseysider and their ageing or vulnerable connections.

Still, what a laff 20,000 ravers had eh? That was well worth it.

Oh Dave, forts and preyers.

Thats kinda it mate. Its why the windows between dates were the 5 weeks, (data data data), to double check they outcome they modelled. Obvs, I have no idea of what they did input, but I would hazard a guess that it was exactly what they/we are doing. Slippage of anything leads to a reassessment. (Remember the "lumpy" vax supply line for April? Didnt happen, but might have).

And unexpected results would lead to a different model, hence the live tests in Liverpool; its all part of a slow, cautious, modelled, return.

Thats what I meant. At some point, facts trump the modelling.

But caution is still the watchword.

Oh no mate, i understand that completely. But I’d imagine he was appointed before Covid and it he has a shred of integrity he’ll be telling them how it is.
He was appointed by the governing Tories. As was Vallance.

The nmber of times Whitty and Vallance have soft peddled on closures in the last 15 months underlines they are not men of integrity.
