The economy needs to fully reopen over the next few weeks. I no longer see the justification for further delays, and people's jobs and long-term wellbeing are starting to become the priority.
That's business, isn't it?
I haven't once said we need to get inside anywhere tbh. At least I don't think I have anyway.Didn't say you were mate....though you're lying down with dogs with fleas on this issue on here right now.
Look at India and places like it. Look at the UK in the winter. Isn't it enough we can do what we can right now in order to get on with life? Do we simply HAVE TO have people indoors en masse (which it will be after May 17th) in order to 'live'?
My point is a simple one at root: why invite another surge and mega death rates again? WHY?!?!?!

Dave can I just ask what was your pre-Covid day to day life like?Didn't say you were mate....though you're lying down with dogs with fleas on this issue on here right now.

*looks around the globe - globe on fire wioth a rampant killer virus...looks at at UK border controls*
Yes, let's open everywhere up.
My argument is fueled by having seen 127,000 people put in the ground prematurely. Does that agitate me and make me angry? Yes. But I dont have the monopoly on that, I know.I haven't once said we need to get inside anywhere tbh. At least I don't think I have anyway.
If things are done correctly and in a sensible timeframe then I have no issue with it. If things start to go south again then we have to stop and think about the best way forwards from there. It isn't black and white. Nobody can be 100% sure of what will happen. The vaccines could make it so this thing is nothing more than an annoyance. They may fail.
I try to look at things objectively and see both sides of the argument. You seem so set in how you view this that you are incapable of seeing reason or another side of an argument.
Me or my circumstances.
It's a playing the man and not the ball situation.
Those airports should be open for trade only (in extreme cases like family bereavements then people could travel). Nothing outside that.I would happily have very strong border controls on overseas travel this summer. I think we could reopen the UK economy with very low amounts of restrictions, if we ensured that there wasn't much overseas travel in and out of the country.
Opening the economy internally within the UK this summer should be a big priority. Overseas travel should not be a priority, but that's just my opinion.
We all agree that the protection of life is paramount.True, I dont know, hence I said "my observations", based on your disregard for anyone with the face to start a business or employ folk. And total disdain for folk who will lose possibly a life time of work through no fault of their own.
Hard Lines I think the phrase was.
Well my observation of anyone who holds those views is they must be insulated from such concerns.
As for the future, all things covid, I remain in the cautious and careful camp. As restrictions get lifted, infections will rise, as sure as a busy motorway has more accidents than a quiet one does. But wearing a seat belt will help.
I will continue in my little bubble, but I do smile when I see folk starting to live a bit more life over the last few weeks.

I work outside of the Uk and travel roughly every 5-6 weeks, so your saying I shouldn’t be allowed to go to work??Those airports should be open for trade only (in extreme cases like family bereavements then people could travel). Nothing outside that.
We all agree that the protection of life is paramount.
We're all united on that.
