Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

June is 100 a lie isn’t it?

COVID marshals for start in July.

Fed up of it all now.

I highly doubt nightclubs and the like will be opening in June or if they do it will be socially distanced which is pointless in itself.

Dont think it will be until next year until things are fully back to normal if that ever happens again.

Don't really know if calling it a lie is right but it certainly won't be a return to normal. Sporting events after June are planning to have low capacities - Wimbledon 25% for example.

The big problem is that if they decide social distancing has to stay in place normality cannot resume.
Percentage capacity for sports events initially is the best way to go so the organisers can get a better grip on how to control things. There’s no way we can just expect to go from empty arenas/stadiums to full houses straight away

I don’t see how it’s a bad thing keeping social distancing in place either tbh, we’ve had over a year to get used to it so the public should be able to do so without being told

This is what frustrates people.
Either the vaccines work or they don't and evidence so far seems to indicate a very high probability that they do
so why the need for social distancing? The government have said virtually all restrictions should be gone by June 21st. It will be summer, the pubs will be open indoors and I think everyone will just start to get on with life as we new it pre pandemic anyway. We are getting single figure deaths now - thankfully, that is just no reason to carry on imposing restrictions and denying freedoms on a mass scale.

Spot on and for me if you are that worried about still catching Covid after 2x vaccine doses it should be on the individuals choice to limit social contact as much as possible.

I dont particularly go out much these days anymore with having a young kid but the rare nights I do get out with my mates I want to be able to enjoy it and not be told its table service for 2 hours, keep your voices down then bugger off home at 10pm lol

Social distancing has a major impact on all businesses and all aspects of life. If social distancing is in place then its hardly normal.

We have single figure deaths because of the lockdown of 4 months standing (5 months for some regions).

The vaccines are unproven and will only be really tested in the winter when respiratory disease is more common.

Is it that hard to just socially distance and remain vigilant? I mean, there's 127,000 people lost their lives in this country - maybe as a mark of respect to them we could all just be cautious and also do a lot more than we could have for the past few months?

Too much to ask?

It won’t be forever. After a while the trial events will come back with zero cases and it will go full scale again on a step by step gradual basis.

Covid Wardens are only temp jobs, not permanent posts, thankfully.

At least traffic wardens the world over can rejoyce that they will no longer be in the most hated profession around.

They're not proven. Even the scientists who make them are hedging their bets on how "proofed" they are.

Science is one big picture of hedging ones bets. I am living proof of that.

But the overwhelming evidence of real world data is that the majority of vax's reduce transmission and reduce serious illness/death.

Saying they are "unproven" is for the fantasists.

Yes it is to much ask based on the evidence we have regarding the vaccines.
If you think the people of this country have been on a hard lockdown for the past
5 months then you really must be hunkered up in your bunker somewhere.
Have a drive on the motorways and see how busy they are. Go to the supermarket
or even, god forbid a beer garden. The reduction in deaths and infections is a direct
result of the efficacy of the vaccines. Fact. How on earth can you keep spouting your
nonsense that 'the vaccines are unproven'? Give it a rest FFS!
