I can’t think of a context that makes the statement “let the bodies pile high in their thousands” less awful tbh

What I mean is, and lets face it, this is Cummings, is that quote an aspiration, or part of a longer exchange, which takes on a totally different context if its preceded by "There is no way we can".

I dont trust any politician, but I kinda understand how they play. But Cummings is weapon grade louse.

Agree on Cummings but this quote seems to be being reported by at least 3 people who heard it which makes it a lot less likely that this is due to Cummings spinning an innocent comment out of context.

And Gove’s comments are hardly a full throated denial - ‘I never heard‘ is far less emphatic than ‘it was never said’
“Mr Johnson was also defended by Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove who told MPs he had "never heard" the prime minister suggest that "bodies could pile high". He said he was in the room during conversations about the lockdown but "never heard language of that kind."

I'm not being funny here, but can you actually believe that Johnson - the man who described the call for ventilators back in April 2020 as "operation last gasp" - is a man who wouldn't say such a thing as "bodies piled high" as a way of underlining future opposition to another lockdown?

And that's quite beside the word of others that corroborate the story.

Cummings and Johnson are both liars but Cummings will be the one who documents everything.

He must have quite a few things on Johnson and is saving the best for last.

They're two criminals as far as I'm concerned. Both of them should be at the Hague getting life sentences for mega-death in this country.

No, I dont believe either. Which is what I said.

So until some context is shown/not shown, I will maintain that stance.

There is a 3rd. Context.
Oh I'm quite sure he didn't mean those words to be taken literally, if he even said them of course.

I can see them being said in anger or even in jest (in a sarcastic way). But as a PM you can't afford to do that. Which is one of the reasons he is the wrong man to be PM. He can't control what comes out of his mouth

He cant control what comes out of his boxers.

I just find it strange that folk now believe, totally, what Dominic Cummings says.

If we were privy to every off-hand statement our elected officials said behind closed doors none of them would last a week in office.
