I didn't say schools reopening would be a disaster. I said infections would increase. And they dd when schools opened.

I was right about the AZ vaccine. Completely right.

I never said outdoor hospitality would be a disaster - the reverse, I said all hospitality should remain outdoor.

I said June opening would lead to a disaster, not May.

Opening in June will lead to a disaster.

The autumn will be the time we reap what we sow by opening up fully in June.

Infections did increase slightly when schools returned but hospitalisations and deaths continued to fall.

This kind of proves that you are wrong about the AZ vaccine. It has been a success.

The reason we have scores of the Indian variant right now is only because the environment for it to catch fire in isn't here...yet.

You'd have to be completely thick not to realise that another summer like the last one - in conditions where we have variants like the UK Virus, the Indian VOC and the SA VOC which have a far higher transmission rate than the strain here last summer - will result in a calamitous autumn.

The hubris on display by some in this thread is appalling.

The question though is when, ever, would you accept it’s over ? We are inoculating millions, schools are back, pubs are open, shops are open, but still the numbers fall. There always comes a point where something ceases to be an issue. 18 people died of this, 5 people died in road accidents but we haven’t closed motorways or car sales or garages or stopped people riding bikes. And what about the other 1,400 who died yesterday......

When we go through a winter and Covid19 is as deadly *only* as the flu.

I've said all along the vaccines aren't the solution. Not ultimately. I stick by that. We need drastic changes to our lifestyle.

Or everyone could stay in their houses, in the dark with no electricity, with food sent around by Tesco and save another 500 lives per day. We wouldn’t have a life, but we might live a bit longer. Personally I’d rather be sensible but enjoy my time on this planet. If life =not having a life, what’s the point......

We probably do, but I struggle to lose weight and my age just keeps going up so I’m stuffed really......

Whilst the number of infections increased, the test positivity rate decreased.

Test more, find more.
