Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

It's as simple as this: this is as good as it gets.

Fatalities right down, going into the better months weather-wise, benefit of the suppression of the just ended lockdown, vaccine coverage reaching well down into the population.

But when the time arrives for indoor dining and drinking and when large indoor events happen, it starts going in the opposite direction.

The reason we have scores of the Indian variant right now is only because the environment for it to catch fire in isn't here...yet.

You'd have to be completely thick not to realise that another summer like the last one - in conditions where we have variants like the UK Virus, the Indian VOC and the SA VOC which have a far higher transmission rate than the strain here last summer - will result in a calamitous autumn.

The hubris on display by some in this thread is appalling.
Maybe or maybe we will have heard immunity by then. I am disappointed on how long it took to put India on the red list. It is this new variant that looks to be out competing all others in India that appears to be our biggest threat right now. The government allowed thousands to enter the country over the last couple of weeks and stay outside of unsupervised lockdown. Many of these will probably be staying in multi generational households. Recipe for disaster and it feels so easily avoidable

I just need to know whether we’re all gonna die again in the Summer or the Autumn, as I need to sort my holidays out.
The summer will be the transmission belt for the autumn.

127,000 people dead and some people think it's under control. It isn't. Not by a long chalk.

First you said that opening up schools again after Easter would be a disaster.
Then you said the AZ vaccine was gnats piss and called it a " disaster vaccine "
Then you said opening up outdoor hospitality in April would be a disaster.
Then you said that opening in May would be a disaster and should be moved back.
Then you said that opening up properly in June will be a disaster and should be moved back.
Then you said we were all going to die again in the Summer if we opened up in June.
Now you say we are all going to die in the Autumn.

FFS, you`d have the world locked down and the Stasi on our case every time someone sneezed.

Good news @LinekersLegs, looking through the published phase 3, 82% efficacy against severe/critical disease from South African variant.

Excellent, really hope the hold on that vaccine is removed tomorrow.

Hopefully the vaccinations will dave, all the evidence certainly looks fantastic. It's time to let the 60m people to live a little after almost a full year of lockdown in my opinion.
It's a matter of out for the summer and then hunker down for months later again.

Anyone believing otherwise has rocks in their head.

For Gods sake, nobody show @davek this.

It doesn't negate what I've stated.

For now, it's true. In a few months time it wont be.

Have you seen the plans to seat thousands of people in indoor events and now the likely foreign holidays and all the danger that brings?

This is a 3 month blow out and then we lock again.

Tell me I'm wrong.
