Community Care workers and NHS colleagues are asked to do Lateral flow (LF) twice a week, you are deemed worthy for PCR test if LF cares to show a positive, just as well role some dice. Considering our most vulnerable are now cared for in their own homes, its frankly abysmal.

oh ffs

there's doubts over PCR too.

The lateral flow tests are fine, they work.

U.K. vaccines....389K yesterday (with 312K second doses) ....total first doses 32,326,604....total second doses 8,170,081....giving a total of 40,496,685......

First doses taking a kicking this month. Could do with that AZ shipment coming from India ASAP otherwise poor FB92 will be celebrating Everton's first game at Bramley Moore before he gets his first jab.

32 million have had at least one vaccination, many many more by May.

Deaths and hospitalisations plummeting.

The NHS no longer overwhelmed and now starting to concentrate on backlogs and catching up, rather than the virus.

Vast swathes of hospitality shut for nearly five months by May.

No public appetite for further draconian restrictions.

No chance.
No appetite for it, but if the danger is there people will respond to that, as they have for over a year.

Let’s put it another way, other than in your head, as it stands there’s no reason for things to not open up as planned in May.
It's driven by the data. If the SA variant becomes a VOC then that changes everything.

We cant have tens of thouands more dying because some spanners want to continue to get a bevvy and eat stuff out they could be cooking for themselves.

The Moderna jab is coming to English shores soon, so it will ramp up this month. Come May, we will be on the same level as second dosages again.

You can see why India held the shipment up what with the way things are going there.

We have the best testing system around, as soon as a “variant” crops up, our mass testing is always there first thing with its “blitz postcode” testing system. The same happened with the Brazil variant making its way here and it got stamped out.

The SA variant is not a concern as of the moment.

And here’s me thinking the numbers are still rocketing downwards.

They are, but caution, to me, is still the watch word. I quite enjoyed seeing folk have responsible SD drinks and stuff this week, and the shops must be breathing a sigh of relief. But I live in a village, near a modest sized town, and compliance has been 100% afaik.

If this kopite virus has taught us anything, its that it is unpredictable.
