Luckily got my 2nd Pzifer vaccine yesterday and no issues what so ever from it ;-) France/Paris is nightmare at moment to get appointments for vaccinations ;-( I had to go outside Paris to get my vaccine for 2nd time as no Pzifer ones in city apparently ;-(

I live 400km South of Paris
9 New cases last Friday down here in our rural département and only just over 50% icu capacity in use.
The media are giving the impression that the île de France and hauts de France fiasco is nationwide.

I haven't. I haven't suggested I have and it's not really equivalent in this context. I do however criticise where it is appropriate - the Labour party, Corbyn, Starmer or the EU, VDL - which would be equivalent.

Certainly Italy will be at the same catastrophic level as the UK soon...that's the Italy that gave us here a two week heads up to lockdown and avoid a first wave disaster...which Johnson said we could avoid by washing hands...which basically is why we aren't at where Germany is in terms of fatality rate.

Which is why this government has to be seen as a special case for orchestrating social murder.

The vaccine rollout has been absolutely fantastic, don't think anyone can deny that.

The problem is this is wave 3 for Europe, whereas we've had just the two and been disastrous in our handling of it.

Vaccines will prevent a third wave killing but it shouldn't be a disguise to hide the fact the Tories ballsed up the pandemic response completely and European countries got it marginally better overall.

In fairness our second wave coincided with the new variant. Yes the govt got it completely wrong with trying to accommodate Xmas inberween, but let's not try and deny the new variant made out second wave longer and harder.

Many on here, you included I think, believed the new variant was just a smokescreen to cover the cock up innot putting London in tier 4. But we know now it was real.

This same variant is the main reason Europe is having a 3rd wave. I'm hoping we've already been there and done it, and somehow in the process are now a step ahead of Europe rather than a step behind.

Time will tell, but in the meantime we can't be complacent and need to keep a tight control on our borders and on foreign holidays.

Yep I did, and honestly I still think the effect of it is a bit overblown. They were too quick with the estimates of its increased transmissability to be plausible IMO. Remember they said it was more lethal too with no evidence - that didn't fly and they quietly binned that claim in short order.

Yes he is Dave. As PM he is ultimately responsible for everything that goes on in this country, including the covid pandemic. I've said this countless times in here. His poor leadership and poor choice of govt ministers is also partly to blame for most of it too.

I just don't think he's a murderer Dave and I also think the role of many other none politicians need to be taken to task for their part in this.

We'll see what history describes his actions as.
