Well mate maybe Nightingale was unused because they didn't have enough staff, you'd have to use your best mate Google for that as I don't know.

From my own experience, the hospital I was in was overrun, understaffed, those that were working were working around around clock and doing a job far above and beyond I would have expected in the circumstances at the time and putting their own wellbeing at risk for the sake of mine and others like me at the time.

Just so you know, you can't catch Dementia or Alzheimers from having a pint with your mate as an example.
A friend's daughter went back to nursing about six months ago and admitted to being sceptical at the time about the whole pandemic issue. She ended up at Aintree Hospital and said it was worse than she could have imagined and did say that the conspiracy theorists could photograph empty wards as minor surgery had been suspended. But then she could have been lying and posting it online for attention.

For example @peteblue , I don't see anything Corbyn is saying here as 'dangerous'.

It seems sensible and reasonable and from personal experience of having to use the UC system, it's needed, too.

He may have been a flawed leader. But I don't get why there's so much hatred towards him.

Anyway, that's enough politics for the day!

He is dressed like Colonel Sanders, mind.

I’m sure he’s a really nice man, and with the best of intentions, but he is not a leader unfortunately...I have no hatred for the man, just a recognition of his limited capabilities......

Yeah fair enough. I just think everything he says there are policies that should be in place, mind. Little things that are easy wins and would go a long way.

I agree with the general point. Labour went nowhere under him though I blame the likes of McDonnell just as much, if not moreso.

Immunity does not last for 6 months.

Antibodies not being present is irrelevant as you have t cell immunity. Your lack of understanding just proves your level of ignorance.

You can't answer why no one from last March, a full year ago, has been reinfected because you are wrong.

Feel free to direct me to the evidence that people from last 'year' are being reinfected, which you can't, because they haven't been.

You are a fountain of misinformation and ignorance.
Please learn to read - properly.

I said there is an acceptance in scientific communities that the original antibodies subside after a certain period, not that the human body cant memorise and reproduce antibodies when under threat again.

And, btw, reinfection can occur.

Basically you lack the finnesse for this debate.

For you, it's all about some people knowing nothing and "chatting wham", and others (believing themselves to be genetic experts on a football forum) not "chatting what".

I honestly don't know of anyone who died of covid, and I know people in Ireland - many and in England (many) on top of large sections of Europe
as well as many areas of Asia so you are looking at a large area, if there were deaths of someone I am sure I would have heard.

If Covid is so bad why is the Nightingale hospital unused?

The country is run to the ground, I am struggling a bit to see why this was not happening when people were dying of flu or other diseases in years gone by, in 2015 over 125 thousand died of dementia and Alzheimer's in the UK alone

There was no panic in 2018 about excess flu deaths? no letters sent to people from the PM

Winter death toll highest since 1975: Failure of flu jab to combat severe outbreak resulted in more than 50,000 extra people dying in England and Wales last year

In a dark way these type of posts can be amusing. I'm sure you must have posted somewhere that the virus will only kill .8 percent of the population without doing the simple calculation. How much is 0.8% of the world population? A fairly recent rough estimate of global population was 7.8 billion. Therefore, the calculation is 7,800,000,000 * (8/1000). This comes to 62.4 million.

Labour have not got a chance in this country due to the huge growth in far right nationalism. No labour candidate would have won the election.

To stay on topic with covid I find it hilarious that people comment on Corbyns post saying you wouldn't have done any better. Its quite amusing at its basically impossible to do worse.

Highest deaths essentially in the world and the most days in lockdown. Billions spent on test and trace which doesn't even work. What a legacy, hard to compete with that level of performance.

TBF they could have done worse; what Cummings wanted to do (and Johnson before he panicked) would have killed 400,000 plus from this and probably a couple of hundred thousand more because the NHS had collapsed.

We’d probably have a lower social bill after though, as well as avoiding as much economic damage!

It was absolute bedlam in Aintree mate in January. Honestly I hope I never see anything like it ever again. The staff were unbelievable, under insane pressure.

Honestly, sending them a card or a box of chocolates to say "thanks" for all they done just would never ever be enough. To deal wirh something like that for a few days would terrify me, to do it over 12 months is unimaginable.

see, that's not really true.

I remember when I was growing up the BNP were obviously getting a lot of traction. Go back 30 years to the 80s and it was a huge issue.

There's always been idiots and horrid people on both sides of the divide. Issue now is that they all have a way to voice their opinions at the touch of a button, and can do so anonymously if they so wish as well.

There isn't 'more' hatred or racism or left-wing nutjobs than there was 10 or 15 years ago. They just have an easier way of getting their stupid opinion seen.

Pinning Labour's defeat on that is far too simplistic and is the issue that some die-hard Corbynites never got - and still don't get. It's the equivalent of saying everyone who voted Leave is racist or everyone who voted Tory is evil (and that happens regularly).

It's not black and white. But people treated it as such and that's why they've been consistently stunned by the votes over the last few years.

But yeah, back to COVID, I find it hard to believe that another government would have got it as badly wrong at the start of this than these lot did.

its a hospital -- for sick and built for covid patients especially.

Too many rose tinted glasses on here
It's hard to admit when you're wrong sometimes mate. But when you're as massively wrong as you are.what you should do.is never talk about the subject again. Then hopefully in a few months time.people will forget what an absolute bell you've been

125,000 covid linked deaths alone in a calender year. So 75000 more. And yes, that 2018 figure is in the excess deaths figures publicly available and is what I mean by a bad year. Check out the excellent EUROMOMO initiative which tracks excess mortality across Europe. So you have just proved my point ta. Still nowhere as high as covid.

Plus, mortality isn't the only marker. Morbidity, or long term illness, relating to covid is a significant health care burden in the form of long covid and the length of time it takes people to recuperate from a severe bout.

You are extremely lucky to not know anyone effected by covid severely. Be thankful. For those of us that have, well, it is not fun.

Boris isn't a leader and his capabilities are even more limited.

Good news coming from the Sheffield/Oxford PITCH study. And looking like the UK vaccine programme strategy will be justified.
