My nana owns a villa in Spain.

She has done since 1982.

Working class. Her and my granddad built their own company. She raised five kids.

Having a holiday home doesn't automatically make you rich.

I'm pretty sure they've put the rule in for their friends from Eton and their other wealthy donors, not the few members of the working class who have been able to somehow afford a holiday home.

What an appalling thing to have said on the day that a remembrance (of sorts) was held for the 126,000 people he was instrumental in killing.

Thank God for greed and capitalism being able to extract vast profits from chaos and human misery. Has there ever been a more disgusting bag of excrement PM of this country?
It exemplifies what Johnson and his government also much of his party are all about, indeed pandemic was an opportunity to enrich themselves and their cronies.

The exemption wouldn’t cover your nana going to the holiday home; she’d (technically) get a five grand fine for leaving the country to go there.

However if she owned ten holiday homes, and wanted to speak to her agent over there who manages them, then this would be allowed.

It would also be allowed if, in addition to then ten homes, all she she wanted to do was drive around the area looking for more homes to buy.

Yeah I know the rule is crap and elitist.

Was more the general point that you don't have to be middle class or upper class or a Tory doner to have a holiday home or multiple homes.

Yes, but at the same time, what has been a massive plus for many has been being able to spend long periods with their children. I work away regularly and this has been a plus for me.

That's is true but it doesn't alter the fact that generally speaking, children need to mix with other children to help develop their social skills.

You do understand it isn't just the elderly that are vulnerable don't you? I'm 35 and take immunosuppressants which makes me vulnerable to this. I've spent 5 months of last year and almost the first four months of this year being told not to leave my house. I would have gone to work but I wasn't allowed.

I feel for the young in all of this just like I feel for all those who have lost loved ones. My 6 year old lad has missed most of his year 1 school and my 1 year old has missed a lot of the developmental stuff of seeing other kids and people. I'm made up my son is back in school and we can soon see others again but your attitude to this stinks.

We now know that more deaths will occur amongst our age group from lack of jobs and income. We need to get the economy moving again and we need to get people who work in the service industry back to work.

It's not just a case of people not being able to go on holiday BTW, what is lost amongst the bedwetters is that people are not able to be united with their loved ones abroad. A friend of mine has no idea of when he'll be able to see his wife who lives in Thailand. Another friend is a new father, his family haven't been able to see the new addition to the family.

The government is using a sledgehammer to crack a nut and it will ultimately destroy more lives than it saves.

It's been hard for everyone mate, it really has. My brother and his wife had a baby last year. He's nearly one now and I've not yet held him or seen him properly. My mum and dad don't live locally. Can't remember the last time I saw them properly. It is affecting everyone.

I agree we need to get the economy moving but I see no sense in swapping the age group of who dies. "You've had your time sorry" isn't the way to go. I don't want to put my parents in danger just so I can work and I don't think you will find many who do. Striking the balance is hard in what risks can be taken. Hopefully soon we see everything moving again but it can't be at a loss of life that doesn't need to happen.

It's the height of arrogance to think that we can cheat Mother Nature. Ultimately, most old people are Tory voting scumbags and their death isn't a great loss to society.

Sorry @peteblue no offence x

Crikey.

I'm no Tory but I just can't agree with those sentiments.

Just a point though...you seem very willing to sacrifice people based on their age / party preference. That seem a very...Tory way to act.
