Yes Merkel's problems are mounting with this latest episode.

There was fury in Berlin after Germany on Monday when they joined the pause brigade. Her closest ally, the Bavarian regional leader Markus Söder, made his feelings clear, telling German television he was ready to take the vaccine “immediately”.
Her main coalition partners, the left of centre Social Democrats (SPD) publicly condemned the decision as a “U-turn” that suggested the government has “no clear policy”. Germany, France and the Netherlands all said the vaccine was safe last week before later suspending the jabs.

One senior SPD politician went further, describing the move as a “disaster” and calling on the health minister, Jens Spahn, to resign.

Germany’s national disease centre warned that the country is now in a third wave and facing an exponential rise in cases that could see it break previous records by Easter.

Ahead of the Federal election later this year, Merkel's party now stands at its lowest level of support for about a year. More Germans are disillusioned with the sluggish vaccination roll out program blaming Merkel's party for being far too reliant on the EU's procurement program. This latest fiasco has just exacerbated it as her plans for her chosen successor look to be in serious trouble.
Still if had I COVID, and had a choice of health care system, there are a fair few I would rather be treated, just because there are better outcomes purely because they are politically better managed and funded.

Nothing to do with our NHS staff I was one for 15 years, my elder sister still works in the NHS, its just treated appallingly by government.

I was talking about the vaccine roll out with particular reference to the pausing and the effect it's having in Germany, although other countries have similar problems. If I had COVID I'd want a vaccination as soon as possible after I'd recovered. Vaccination is the best treatment atm.

There are other issues more generally but it's going off at tangents.

Oh wont it now be "evolving science"... They will if and when the, and heard it from every scientist qualified to talk about it on TV and radio in the last days, everyone of them spoke with a caveat as they will with every vaccine...

So internet person I'm more inclined to believe them.

Its most likely "safe" it what "they define as safe", and where it fits on the "scale of safe" compared to others, well we will find out in time.
Some of your posts read like riddles, mate :hayee:

Could be wrong but I get the impression Merkel is just trying to keep her head down from now until September so as not to tarnish her legacy too much. Just leaving Spahn flailing on his own at the moment by the looks of it.

Well she's off anyway but her chosen successor won't get it if her party isn't even in the coalition after elections. There really are big problems after it all looked so cut and dried not so long ago.

I read that as he was against mandatory vaccinations, I have had my vaccination but I would also be against mandatory ones.

If people don't want them they should not be forced to have them against their will
You are right he was against mandatory vaccines (which in some countries like Brazil may be necessary) but just like Brazil's president, he also publicly shunned mask wearing, social distancing, and lockdown rules, such defiance against a killer virus seems to have gotten him in trouble.

Yes her party took a pasting at a couple of regional elections on Sunday. Now speculation that a government without her party is possible. September will be interesting.

What point are you making here, that public perception should override the scientific data?
The general point is I don't care as outlined. As in what other wealthy countries decide what vaccine to pursue, data or not. Let them got on with it its their sovereign business.

There are other countries not fortunate as us or them who will happily have the AZ vaccine. If this pause leaves over supply in system, make sure COVAX program gets them, Then shout loud and proud.

Rather engaging in finger wagging negativity, which is like telling one of the most obese countries in world (UK) that all the data in world says its a bad thing, really!

Thought my missus' Covid jab was booked in for tomorrow, turns out it was this morning. I drove her to have it and she was in, done and back in the car in less than 10 minutes. She said it was spot on how it was all dealt with, social distancing etc. I have yet to hear anyone I know who have had it done say they have had a mare when going for it. Fingers crossed I have the same when mine is done on Saturday.

So, we shouldn't say the decision of countries to suspend vaccine rollouts because of poor application of data is bad, because other countries aren't as fortunate to be as choosy?

Is that your point, because I'm struggling otherwise.
