What a good idea. Drop protective measures just before the UK variant is about to hit and put their hospitals into crisis.

It'd be a good idea if we had all politicians removed from power and replaced by technocrats with a huge emphasis on medical expertise for the duration of this pandemic. They really are spectacularly bad at saving human life.
Definitely think its a bit early for that decision. They should have waited another 6-8 weeks.

Trivialising or minimising the problems of his comments which have just served to heighten the fears and vax scepticism across large swathes of France isn't a good look imo.

Macron's views are listened to in Europe, however misguided they may be. Europe wide problems with vaccine take up can't be totally blamed on him but he's not helped one bit.
First time in ages I watched the COVID update on Monday, have to say its all very easy to critique, the insistence to include both current vaccines efficacy as one average will lead to suspicions.
And I know anecdotally and locally the Pfizer first dose is being targeted in the older age groups here in the UK...

I think this is correct. I cant remember hearing from personal experience anyone older having the AZ jab.

You only need to remember what he said when the queues and queues of freight lorries were piling up in Dover on New Years Eve. He was using Covid as an excuse to create the problem, then stepped this up by saying something like “This is what it will be like for you when you leave the EU tonight”.

The guy is a total idiot.
What he did there was nothing short of political terrorism.
He is really is the worst advert for the EU they can get.

I didn't watch it, so don't know if they did, but if so there's no reason to - there's data out that breaks down exactly how each vaccine are performing in real world terms and they are broadly the same.

I'll be getting mine next month with the second no doubt in July. I'm hoping the vaccine will see me through next winter. If it's the AZ one I'm hopiing it'll get me to August. :coffee:

You’re down for either the Sputnik V or one from Sinopharm..........

I agree, here to stay until about June..
Yeah, when everybody got the shot twice, no way it will be a forced choice, rather people will be free to wear or not. I reckon around half of the population will still be wearing out of habit till like end of 2021.

No. From now on.

I still dont think a lot of people have accepted long term reality here.

There's no way back to our former lives. The environment has changed for us and we have to adapt.

I think they will be on transport, in shops etc

They won't be at events like concerts, because that's just daft because it takes away the whole point of going. Even the match.

Not that you'd go, or see any value in people being able to have fun.

There's a trade off that we all accept as the acceptable level. We aren't there yet with COVID. Hopefully, when the vaccine roll out has fully got to every clinically vulnerable person, and by that point every other adult in the UK will have had their first jab too, then we'll be much closer to that position.

Texas are leading the way Dave (although slightly too early in my opinion).

Normality is approaching. Two doses of vaccine and over 90% of deaths are prevented. Normality resumes and all the covid hotspots which you hate will be back open.
