Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Every single day I read great unbiased scientifically-backed news about the miracle that is the vaccines currently being rolled out around the world. Everything from their production in record time, the incredible levels of supply, and the astonishing ability for countries around the world to act quickly and vaccinate their citizens at a pace nobody thought possible (not talking about you, EU).

I then think "Oh I'll hop on the Covid thread, after 12 months of absolute pain and anguish, at least there's something we can all celebrate and take pride in".

Open the thread and get met with conspiracy theories and swipes at people who dare post about good news, or swipes at posters who have the cheek to even hint that they don't think that everybody to the right of Tony Benn is out to murder everybody.

I might ask them to inject the vaccine in my eyes so I don't make the same mistake of opening this thread.
 
It is a mixed day today; we had really good numbers in the cases, but current and present hospitalisations went up by a small amount today.

This comes (sorry to sound like a BBC report just then), a day after a Brazilian variant got reported to have come here.

East Sussex has seen an increase in cases and Hastings has gone up. People currently in hospital with Covid has gone down here just like every other region, but London has put a spanner in the works with its 190 net increase.

Hopefully today was just a blip and we will come down again.

If the ghost of Stalin doesn’t materialise behind you and try to suffocate you with a copy of the Morning Star you’re in.
 
Despite what I said in my last post, as long as the vaccine numbers are good for each day of the week, then it’s no worry and today is all a blip, both in the vaccinations, cases and hospitalisations.

So far it’s going really well and although today’s numbers look disappointing, they were very much similar this time last week and they shot up again.

The four tests were decided as being met the day the road map was set out (as a rule of thumb).

When we reach 50,800,000 (the total of the nine groups), this thread will sink to the bottom or be archived for prosperity. We will beat the Brazil variant as it has been detected early and be back watching the Toffees for real with a real crowd.

I got rejected mate - I refused to make the customary blood sacrifice and pilgrimage to my local NHS hospital after inadvertently agreeing with something Matt Hancock said.
