Maybe Whitty does just know more than you/us though? What Whitty said (about the vaccines doing the heavy lifting) was very concerning - it sounded a lot like like they aren't going to do anything substantial to try and prevent this thing spreading (hence R now being an irrelevance in terms of whether these measures are working) , just rely on the vaccine preventing hospitalizations and deaths.
That would work domestically for only as long as the protections from this set of vaccines last, and could easily lead to ongoing problems with foreign travel further down the line (especially to countries who have got systems to control outbreaks). It also guarantees that, in the event of a completely different pandemic happening (or this pandemic mutates into one that the vaccine doesn't prevent hospitalizations and deaths), that we'll be faced with the situation we were in March 2020 again.
Just cos you use the word fact, it doesn't make it a fact.Sorry flu rates were down they were counted a covid 19 fact

He probably does, though of course someone can have all the knowledge in the world and still be on entirely the wrong track.
I feel pretty positive about this for the first time in months
My only concern with the plan (first and foremost) is schools. I just hope the rates don't spike.
But, and I only caught the end of the presser, so will watch it tonight if I find the time, I did see Vallance say about them giving themselves that 4-week period for data to come from schools reopening before they then make a decision on the further steps.
Q: There is no reference to R in the four tests. (See 12.49pm.) What rate of infection should cause us concern?
Whitty says, until we had vaccination, rising cases always meants rising deaths.
But vaccination can break that link, he says.
He says lifting restrictions will lead to a “surge” in cases.
But vaccinations can do the “heavy lifting”, he says.
I think thats cos the vaccines, as far as they know, don't prevent cases, only bad outcomes.that was the bit I found worrying - he specifically said they'd break the link between rising case numbers and hospitalizations/deaths, not that they'd prevent a rise in case numbers (from here):
so they believe there will be a rise in case numbers as the result of this (and of course its difficult to see what would stop any rise), but also believe they won't result in increased hospitalizations / deaths
indeed so the human race as mutated virus for 500 years or so , viral , bacterial and fungal , so why shut the world down in 2020 then ?Just cos you use the word fact, it doesn't make it a fact.
Flu rates are indeed down, the uptake of flu jabs and extreme social distancing measures will cause that, coupled with most peoples "natural immunity" to a virus that has been around for over 500 years.
Thats a FACT.

Its called a lockdown mate.indeed, and thats why we need something else to prevent spread
But it must be because the all-knowing and mighty Davek of GOT said so.
He never chats turd about anything.
What a horrible existence that fella must have. Never has a nice meal in a restaurant because he thinks they are getting one over on him hahaha.
