By the way, my brother inlaw is a head chef, so I know a fair bit about where they get their food from.

You’re welcome.

Baffles me honestly.

I can understand why people might not think restaurants are worth it purely from a cost vs cooking yourself perspective. But to call them a rip off is just a nonsense. Most restaurants from owners down work their arses off, it’s not an easy industry at all.

Its like farmers.

You cannot not do everything, every day, perfectly. If that makes sense.

But they are probably rip off landed gentry toffs to some as well. (A few are actually, but not most).

My dad did it from the age of 14 (his dad died so he had to run their pub) until he was 54.

Nearly killed him. But he did it because he knew nothing else, and he did it well.

Hospitality is a ludicrously difficult industry. God knows how people have managed this last year.

Spot on.

My brother inlaw works in a medium size hotel, regularly puts in 80hr weeks and gets paid just over 24k a year.

The hotel restaurant lives and dies by what he cooks and to some extent the hotel too.

If someone calked his food muck, they wouldn’t be standing for long.

Name some? Il;d be here all day. Let;'s just say that if you frequent one of those gaffs regularly you either realise you're being ripped off by con merchants or you're 'kin daft.
I only frequent fast food places or on very special occasions Miller and Carter or a pub up near my cousin’s which I’ve never had a bad meal from

I doubt very much this is the end of this disaster , what happens when mingling starts up in the summer as patel said last year , no doubt we will have variants and maybe other viruses out of the woodwork back to defeat the vaccines , meanwhile the elites will make another 400 billion and the likes of amazon will be quid's in again
