Allowing community transmissions to remain high throughout is total failure, not only with the terrible death toll we have so quickly reached.
Also worryingly high community transmissions aids the creation and establishy of further variants of this virus and subsequently runs the very high risk damaging the efficacy of all vaccines.
The fact we have just begun a quarantine procedure for air travellers is shocking, the UK has proudly boasted about being the air cross roads to the world well since I can remember, allowing this to remain until this week is another failure of any moral conscience.

In fairness thats from a very specific period time and is quite out of date. If you look at CDC data from this month its very different. I believe about 8 of the top 10 states for cases per 100,000 have mask mandates. North and South Dakota are in the bottom 10 states at the moment for cases. Obviously it tends to work in waves and possibly states such as the Dakotas could have already had their peak for this wave.
Listen I have no issue with masks but we should all be wearing n95 masks with a visor every time we leave the house. You've got people wearing cloth masks 10 days in a row who never wash them in a commercial washing machine at 90 degrees - all masks should he worn once before washing/replacing depending on type. All studies on the performance of masks are based on new masks.
I see masks as similar to the testing process, only about 20% of positive people actually bother to isolate. Its good that testing stops some transmission but it could quite easily be better if test and trace actually forced more people to stay at home when positive.

The distraction has not played as they out they had hoped it would, judging by media coverage.
Can't get away from 100,000, it's not money, it's not shares, it's not jobs it's not fish stuck at some dock, it's not some 100,00 people in a foreign oil laden land this time.

3 of the top 5 states in terms of cases per capita have no mask mandate as of this week.
And considering only 12 states out of 50 currently don’t have a mandate it’s a mighty coincidence that 3 of the 5 worst states are in this group of 12.
North and South Dakota now both have mask mandates. Weird how their cases have plummeted...

North and South Dakota do not have mask mandates. North Dakota did however have one for 2 months but they have removed it recently.
CDC states Rhode Island, Arizona, South Carolina, New York and Georgia are the worst states over the past 7 days for cases per 100,000. Granted Georgia and Arizona don't have full state mask mandates but the main population hubs including Phoenix and Atlanta have mask mandates.
You might be right but regardless I still have my doubts about the effectiveness of certain poor quality masks. Get proper masks in use now. Get rid of all masks that haven't been washed and are made of tshirts.
