Masks again.
It has been proved that the principal method of transmission of respitory viruses is by droplets in the breath of an infected person.
Thus, surely anything that gets in the way of nasal and bocal emission will reduce viral transfer.
Even masks made from t shirt fabric.
Masks are primeraly to protect other people. Not the wearer.
Indoors its airborne mate, I don't think its down to just droplets indoors.

Tshirt fabric masks are simply not good enough. They might be better than no mask at all but if everyone wore proper surgical masks with a visor in all indoor venues the spread would drop massively. Considering the amount thats spent on testing it would be a drop in the ocean for the government to produce huge quantities of visors and n95 masks. 1 test costs more than a good quality mask or visor.

Testing without forced quarantine is a half measure too. If you are caught outside after testing positive you should face community service at the minimum.

OK, spread by aerosol may not be stopped with a simple fabric mask.
Indoor environment ventilation is essential. 3 or 4 air changes per hour.
Adds a lot to heating bills in winter otherwise very uncomfortable.

If anyone is interested in where this unsourced vomit of petes' originated from, its apparently from the Telegraph.

The fact that the EU had a "commercial deal" with AstraZenica, and that AstraZenica haven't delivered what they promised (hence the anger of the EU), is of course not something he chooses to mention.

Still, I guess he will at least be able to recycle his outrage when they decide to hoard something that would benefit us.

You can disagree with Pete's take on things - that's fine. I don't fully agree either.

Not sure how you've come up with the 'unsourced' idea, though. It's all come from a large and extensive interview in La Republica, which the Telegraph have then quoted bits from. The full interview has been posted in this thread and is worth a read. Not just for the EU bits, but also for a bit of insight into the process as a whole.

unsourced as in pete hadn’t said where it had come from

He did say it two posts later like.

But fair enough, maybe he should have stressed it was from the Telegraph when he posted it.

Let's hope the EU and AZ sort whatever issues they have with the vaccine roll out.

I know, after I’d posted it.

It’s a minor point but pete has posted stuff from really dodgy places before without citing it, and people reading the thread do have a right to know where info quoted has come from.

Very true, we really did not need to be here. Nothing learnt from the first wave...Late lock downs, eat out to spread about, border control care home debacle.

Fact we had front care staff in bin bags aprons and hand made face masks should shame anyone... But no, what about me presides.

Lets have Inquiry- can't talk about inquiry- millions spent on said inquiry- years later lesson learnt and nothing changes...

Astra zeneca have jibbed the EU off!!! Pulled out if their meeting and signed a deal for Japan to make it....

Well done EU

This support of AstraZeneca over this is a really bizarre step for people to take; they’ve clearly signed some sort of deal with the EU and are clearly not delivering what that deal related to.

The only issue seems to be that AZ think the deal only aspired to deliver the amount, not legally guaranteed it. I’d have thought if anyone did that to any one of us, we’d be rightly outraged.
