That is exactly correct, most likely anyrate.
You get a serious lung infection, covid or anything, its a straight forward process.
Treat infection.
Observe infection.
Support breathing.
Monitor sats.
Few days/weeks of sustained sat level independent of oxygen relief, good to go.
Manager should have the book thrown at themWorker informs Manager of being ill with COVID like symptoms... Manager states , finish your shift and see how you feel in the morning. Worker felt better, so went to work. After shift, booked COVID test. 2 days later positive. 11 people tracked as possible recipients of said worker transmission and one dead so far. Manager suspended under health and safety regs and whatever else that comes along... True anecdotal story!
They don't protect you but will help to protect others if you happen to have the virus (assuming asymptomatic).I'm starting to think certain masks don't do a whole lot of good. Places with really compliance in USA (NY and California) have really high cases even though mask wearing is almost universal.
Cloth masks are probably pretty much useless and surgical masks are needed to provide a decent level of protection.
Compliance here in California is very mixed. Go to a supermarket or doctors office compliance is high at least here in Bay Area (less so in the south)I'm starting to think certain masks don't do a whole lot of good. Yep I get the point of them and I think surgical masks probably do have an impact but the numbers are questionable for all masks. Loads of places have mask mandates and have had big second peaks. UK and California are perfect examples. They don't protect you but will help to protect others if you happen to have the virus (assuming asymptomatic).
Saw a great example of this a couple of weeks ago when I was out for a walk. Two fellas chatting at a bus stop (outdoors and a decent distance). One had a mask on and the other did not. You could see the breath dispersal (cold day) of the fella without mask and nothing coming from the mask wearer.
Masks are worn for the sake of others.

Doing "essential" work too no doubt.Worker informs Manager of being ill with COVID like symptoms... Manager states , finish your shift and see how you feel in the morning. Compare the states in the USA with mask mandates and the ones without. No real noticable difference. I'm not a mask denier and I do think good quality surgical masks probably do help, a cloth mask made from tshirt type material I'm not too sure.Because masks don't replace behaviour, and the western world doesn't behave in the same way places used to mask wearing do.
How many people do you see fidget with their mask after touching surfaces, or wear it over their mouth only etc.?
Thats the main issue - cultural behaviour. Masks have probably helped the infection rate hugely but we don't have a parallel timeline to make the comparison.
It’s impossible to know really. Not much data on how many infections occur with masks on. But mask wearing should be 1 element in a range of measures. As a stand-alone measure it probably won’t do much.Yep I get the point of them and I think surgical masks probably do have an impact but the numbers are questionable for all masks.
