Looks like Dave’s got a new job ;)

(only joking Dave)

Some of the responses to the tweet are testament to the naivety of people or perhaps their own inherent beliefs against following the guidelines.

Most the people replying have came to the assumption that most people driving simply go for a drive without actually visiting somewhere.
If you read further you got this

co-authored by Jay Bhattacharya, a professor of medicine and economics who has been a vocal opponent of coronavirus lockdowns since March.

Bhattacharya was also among a group of scientists who wrote The Great Barrington Declaration, a controversial statement that encouraged governments to lift lockdown restrictions to achieve herd immunity among young and healthy people, while focusing protections on the elderly
Objectivity, at it's finest.

This annoys me, its getting hard to carry on blaming the government when people are still acting like this

You are always going to get a few idiots. We are experiencing huge issues due to the tier system in December and the pathetic half lockdown in November.

Tbf mate, it does border on big brother, police state though. And look at the response from the police account to one of the tweets

Senseless. It’s the dead of winter, for one. There just needs to be common sense applied from both sides.

Also, the police account goes on to say it is against the law to go to a car wash. Well, it isn’t. Automatic car washes are open and if the business is open you are allowed to go. Ironically, the person they stopped to go to the car wash had a load of weed on them, like

Genuinely, how does it? The last time I checked, legally, there are still restrictions in place over leaving your house without genuine reason or cause.

Without stopping the vehicle, there is also no real ability to judge whether this is the case, so it's either do not engage at all or uphold a sensible process.

There will be people who can't leave the house by walking, but the majority of people could and perhaps should wrap up at a sensible time, if they want to.

Unless there is some form of enforcement, the restrictions will not be adhered to; I'm not talking about draconian action, but this may make people think twice.

If it doesn't, well people are deciding to take the risk of possible enforcement if there movements aren't valid. Then, you have people driving who...

Wait up, are we not allowed to give the car a run out? (assuming you don't actually stop anywhere)

I've been taking mine on a 30 min run every 2 weeks because a new battery costs me £250 and I'd hate to think how much ceased calipers will cost.

The problem is that there’s that many of these studies, all saying different things, you really don’t know what to think anymore !
See the journal that study is published in (European Journal of Clinical Investigation) - publishing there is like playing for Accrington Stanley and scoring against Gillingham Town.
The journal article Neiler just linked above about infection immunity versus disease immunity and vaccination (Science) - that's more like playing for Real Madrid and scoring a hat-trick in the Champion's League final.

No one cares about the first, comparatively speaking, whereas the second impacts the entire world of scientific opinion.

In reality, the likelihood of being pulled over is minimal unless you're in a position where patrols are more likely to check: stationary beauty spots and whatnot.

You could also probably explain and justify this with most officers through a reasoned discussion because the rules are engage, explain etc.

In the vast majority of cases where someone receives an enforcement (a fine), there'll be a back story behind why they've been stopped or why they've got it.

They put a pic up from Otterspool prom about 2 AM from a car and a couple who had driven over from the Wirral.... no idea what for like

Woof! Woof!

I think the tone of that account kind of wound people up

just reads like some bad little weasel grass

Surely the police have better things to do than fining people for parking somewhere for a bit?

Another cash grabbing opportunity by the looks of things.

True but when you read the replies on that Twitter feed people say that about anything, inc cars with no insurance. The worst was when they have speed cameras on the tunnel approach and pull speed cars over, and peple moan about that too

Personaly i think the police need to be handing out a lot more fines for protocol brakers right now, ive never had one, but i act responsibly

Seen today when on a bike ride: workers felling trees, others filling pot holes in, others still cutting grass verges (in January with the grass at about an inch high) . How on earth are they essential at the peak of a pandemic? Those activities must have had about 20 odd people (and the knock on effect of going to shops /petrol stations etc involving others). That can all easily be done once the infection rates decrease.

I know I'm turning into that Harry Enfield character who's catchphrase was "You dont wanna be doing that", but seriously, there's just no sense to it.

Don't get me wrong if people are having a house party they deserve to be fined.

If I drove to a local walking spot with my partner I wouldn't expect a fine. There is definitely elements of going over the top if you are getting fined for driving to somewhere to walk.

Against most on here, but if you get a pull off the bizzies during a lockdown and asked what you’re up to isn’t a big issue really for me.
It’s not stop and search, and if you stink of ale and the car reeks of weed, then I guess that’s your own fault isn’t it ?
