We recovered from war, we'll recover from a virus. A cure will be there at some point so that's the end date if it's not sorted before then.
We’ll recover mate, going to be a bit rocky for a while and we’ll need to help out each other a bit more than we’re used to but we’ll recover.

Contingency planning for emergency deployment by the army was always the case.
Highly unlikely unless mass disorder.
Army have no capacity and would be highly likely to suffer mass infection too.
So it ain’t happening anytime soon.

deploying the military on UK streets is always going to be a last resort because odds are it won’t play out particularly well , history has shown they aren’t the police .

Probably as soon as a few months; a society much less stable but also much less complex than ours (England 1348) managed to recover from the Black Death - which killed between a third and a bit more than a half of the population - within an astonishingly short time.
In fact if the changes that this should bring in are effective and sensible, we'll be much safer against disease (any disease) than we would have been otherwise.
Yeah this isnt like France where the police have no issues using force on citizens. Policing by consent is fundamental here.
However, they are going to have to ban public gatherings in pubs/bars/cafes/restaurants etc. I'm in London and near me they're all still full.
