Well lucky you.

My Mum is in Aintree hospital right now with Covid Pneumonia, with an oxygen mask and on antibiotics, saline and steroid drips.

The staff at Aintree hospital are saying it is absolutely overrun with Covid.

My Dad has it. He said it is the most ill he has ever felt.

One of my sister's has it.

My little nephew has it.

You, and any other sceptic/denier, can fecking do one.

Whoa, you've totally got the wrong end of the stick there. I'm absolutely not a COVID denier in any way, shape or form - I could point to thousands of posts on here in that regard. I was just slightly sceptical of that modelling, that's all.

I'm well aware I've been personally lucky so far, you're spot on; I wasn't suggesting otherwise.

I wish your whole family well mate.

I don’t think anyone in here is a Covid denier, lots of people thought they may have already had very early on. But I think people are a little wary of actual facts never mind numbers obtained through modelling, which is what I believe @Tubey was on about.

Hope your mum and the rest of the family pull through...

Genuinely, answer me.

If everybody attending an event or match, outdoors, is either a) vaccinated (so has some protection) or b) has tested negative, then where is the danger?

How could this thing spread when nobody has the virus?

There would obviously have to be certain limitations. Perhaps on attendance, you also have to take transport into account - but on public transport you have to wear a mask, and you could arrange it that these little festivals - which put on their own transport anyway - that they have to organise that people are bussed in so it is all kept as secure as possible.

I get what you’re saying, but even if you’re vaccinated, you can still carry the virus and be contagious to others. Therefore in your scenario, those who have tested negative, but have not had the vaccine, could still in theory be infected by those who have had the vaccination

I think people misunderstand the purpose of lockdown - its not to stop everyone catching Covid its to stop the NHS being overwhelmed by it.

Simply put - once all clinically vulnerable and over 60's have been vaccinated thats 80% of hospital admissions prevented and potentially up to 9/10 deaths stopped.

Providing the vaccine actually works and gets pumped out fast enough - come May/June there is no excuse not to get life slowly back to normal.

To not do this unnecessarily threatens the future of jobs and livelihoods on top of damage to an already knackered economy.

People forget that we'll be paying for this lockdown for the rest of our lives. Good luck when our taxes are hiked up and you cant afford to go on holidays anymore or a nice weekend away then people will realise the true cost of keeping us all sat at home for near 18 months.

Yeah I understand all that mate, and agree with what you’re saying. I was merely pointing out the fact that being vaccinated doesn’t mean you can no longer be contagious to others

It's both.

In 5-10 years from now Covid will be treated similiar to the flu in terms of the jab etc.

Its not going away anytime soon so to change live forever and destroy the economy/society for it is absolutely insane.
Lockdown should be used to reduce transmission to provide time, in order to put public health measures in place to maintain a manageable level of transmission.

If you don't put adequate measures in place the transmission rate will always rise again until you have vaccination in place.

Repeated lockdowns are a failure of strategy and implementation.

If you do it right you save lives and reduce the economic harm. We're having this conversation because we haven't done it correctly and now the choice is 'life vs livelihood'.

Nothing wrong with hope. But last summer/autumn was a calamity and a waste in terms of putting in a plan to test and trace. That cant be repeated. Realistic expectations and embracing a different way of life will be as key as any vaccine to make life tolerable again. Too many are impatient to do another summer/autumn 2020 though.

Please tell me more comrade.

I agree there mate but my point is once the vulnerable and elderly are vaccinated (providing it works) then statistically Covid isn't severe enough in the rest of us to justify carrying on with all this tier nonsense.

Face masks on public transport and stuff is fair enough but I want to go down in history as the first man to down a double vodka n coke in Popworld once it reopens its doors and I aint doing no social distancing ♡
