Vaccination minister on GMB has just stated that 33% of over 80s have had their first dose. Good that progress is being made but thats still 66% of the first priority group left to do.
These letters going out is a concern already getting calls patients saying they've received one to make an appointment in Manchester saying they can't get there which is fair enough these are 80 plus year olds expected to travel 40 minutes or 20 miles in a pandemic.
Apparently surgery didn't even know these letters were going out.

Patel and Hancock conclude Derbyshire police were correct fining two walkers, but Whitty states the focus should be contact indoors, as outdoors is least favourable for the virus to transmit. Clear and coherent message it is not.

Tbh the more measures that get put in place the more people will get fed up with it and sack the whole thing off which is ultimately detrimental.

Wearing a mask outside regardless of how busy it is where you are wont mean a jot when restaurants and gyms etc open back up whenever they do as indoor accounts for a massive amount of infections.

I think the Government has done an ok job in trying to keep a middle ground between sensible restrictions and full on hard authoritarianism lockdowns which in themselves create deaths in the form of suicides due to damaged mental health.

Its a fine balancing act that they need to get right - not like they have the police forces able to ensure everyone wears a mask outdoors considering they are stretched at the best of times and crimes such as burglaries, rape, gang violence, robbery etc doesnt just go away with Covid.

What's defined as essential is the question?

Depends doesn't it.

My sister and her fiance own a clothes shop in Leeds. They're shut atm but sell on their website and through Instagram.

In March they took all of their stock to their flat. They can't do that this time around - like in November - so go into the shop to pick up any clothes they have sold and then go to the post office to send them off.

That's essential for them to keep their business going, in this case, and there'll be plenty of small, independent stores that are the same. The £6k grant they'll get from the government - which will come via the council which takes ages because the councils are useless - will just about cover overheads.

Not bad going for early Jan IMO.

Barring a major cock-up (not unlikely I know), the UK shouldn't be far off hitting the mid-feb target.

Then we have the boost of 17m approx. Moderna vaccines to come in the spring, too.

Issue is going to be demand and logistics. Just need to keep on going - people also need to not be given a choice about which vaccine they have. If it's there, and available, have it. If you don't want it, then that's on you.

I seen that, I think that makes a bit more sense but nowhere should be particularly busy outdoors now that we're in lockdown.

Yeah but you've got to think about things like supermarkets. The ASDA near me, you have to queue up outside unless you go late at night. So in that queue, you're in a 'crowd' technically.

I mean Sefton is closing in on 1,000 per 100k.

I expect that to drop dramatically in the coming weeks, due to the reduction in people going out, but it's just frustrating. If you go to certain countries, their people took everything seriously. They closed everything down. If you wanted to go to the shops, you need to book time slots etc...

Here, we've done it for a few months and everyone is bored, and it's a "scamdemic", then you've got genuinely normal, non-offending people on here, like the lad who wants to run, and is unsure if he can, being punished because no one can be bothered anymore.

It's worse than ever, yet a quick stop at Home Bargains, and you see hundreds of people in there, not social distancing. You're in for a shock if you think 2021, will be any different to 2020.

Well, we don't know for sure whether they're coming in. I don't think people exercising outdoors like you are in terms of going for a run in a quiet place is doing anything to contribute to the spread. It shouldn't be treated as such.

Different if there's 5 or 6 people meeting up but if you're on your own then it's absolutely fine and doing f all to contribute to people ending up in hospital. Just about being sensible.

They could well have been leaked to let people know the seriousness. I don't think outside masks will come in.
