I'd surmise it's because without the usual Spring/Summer weather, they're going to want children to go and burn off steam - e.g. exercise.

well, we can only hope. it's the four major groups they want to get done by mid-feb, then on top of that they need time for it to take effect, so mid-March, if all goes well. Hopefully even if not we can look at April as starting to open things up again and then, by the summer, there should be no restrictions. Most people who are vulnerable will be vaccinated and that should be enough, with other groups then receiving the vaccine asap through the rest of the year

I mean, that's fine, but this time exercise isn't banned - they could go and play in the parks with their parents or whatever. Playgrounds in the middle of winter surely aren't the most hygienic thing?

Unfortunately, C, while I hate them, I look across Europe and genuinely despair. Think they're all hopeless and even if one or two countries overcome it it'll only take a bit of travel to kick it all off again.

Just has to be an attitude change once the people who need it have the vaccine. Get out of lockdown as being the go-to responses.

FWIW, the vaccine roll out is one thing that, thankfully, so far seems to be going well.

I'm hopeful that's because the government have little to do with it.
