Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

The Pfizer first shot IIRC is 90% with a top up that brings it to 95%
The AZ first shot is indeterminate - not enough data produced by them.

is that cos your can't be arsed typing the answer as it doesn't fit your narrative? i'll spell it out for you.

AZ initial data said roughly 60-67% first dose that could jump up to 94% with the magic mix. The medical board studdied the data and concluded it is actually 70% with one shot and goes up to 80% with the 2nd.

Oh and by the way for a cheap, crap vaccine as you always like to point out that is still more effective than your mates in China have come up with 79%

his problem is that he's said that, then made a lot of much better points (about test and trace especially)

I read the thread - he's made good points (he often does, even though all he does is moan).

But I mean, he's got people jumping on saying they want the UK to be run like China. A government that has put 8 journalists in jail for reporting on the pandemic.

I know the reason why by the way. It's people being tested before Christmas and New Year so they can break the rules and mix with family with a bit of extra peace of mind.

It's not because we're model, dutiful citizens.
And go the match with proof of a test too..

You can’t stand being vaulted on this issue because you look a right tit, just like when you declared Covid was a conspiracy. This thread has been a disaster for you from day one.

As for me “chasing you”, you randomly tagged me in a thread about Boris Johnson’s first name the other day which I hadn’t posted in for over a year.

Pot Kettle.

I accept your apology.

"The magic mix". Lol.

Data on that's been rejected as unsafe even by the regulation body that's handed an emergency license to the Oxford roll out.

Was listening the other day to someone who had worked a lot with HIV patients and what messaging worked to stop the spread.

Public shaming or even rules were not that effective - just drove things underground and people were fearful when they did get diagnosed. Far more effective was to give people clear data on risks and the best way to reduce the risks for them and their partners and made it easy to access those ways to reduce risk.

She was saying there are some parallels now - no matter how much you say don’t meet with your family inside there are going to be some people who do go ahead - either because they don’t think the risk is great or because they think the upside outweighs it. At least the rapid tests mean that some of the spread is stopped and it is another chance to try and say encourage mask use.

There's a Westminster bubble where they think just because they set rules and there's few arrests, then it follows that people must be following the rules.

They aren't.

Strict lockdown rules worked once in March. People were terrified and understood the concern - the virus was unknown, no risks to be taken.

But it won't work as well ever again after that. It's called 'diminishing returns', especially with the rampant lies and disinformation from the government throughout.

It doesn't mean people are bad people, it's just human behaviour, especially in a liberal democracy. We're conditioned to question and express ourselves, unlike in the likes of China. The science knows this, but politicians haven't acted on it out of fear of being labeled complacent when people die of the disease.

It's a tough one, but if Johnson was a competent leader, he'd be able to lead and make the correct calls. He isn't, so he hasn't.

China have handled this better than any country in the world.

I realise you wont accept this, but maybe if you read up on it you would understand.

They absolutely have.

But conversely we don't have a few million ethnic minorities locked up in forced labour camps, or anyone dissenting with the Tories being rounded up and shot in the head in remote fields, so it's swings and roundabouts I guess!
