This is a good balanced look at certain comments he'd made.

His go-to is scaremongering, it seems. Maybe it's better to be safe than sorry...

Of course it shouldn't, but he's also made some big claims which have been proved to be rather sensationalist. Didn't he claim 500,000 would be dead by April?

Cummins rightly got slated - not enough probably - for doing just that. Ferguson should be the same.

We all know lockdown is coming - I mean fwiw I've been in lockdown for two months anyway. This massive clamour for it to be even stricter and harder on people needs to stop.

SARS model is about isolating and eliminating. As an island, we could have done that by shutting borders, but our population density makes it a lot tougher than NZ and Aus, who also have better climates.

There's 4m people in NZ, in a country about 3 times the size of the UK, and half of them live in one City. Perth in Aus has registered hardly any cases - it's just so remote.

I take your point completely, however the UK and NZ are pretty similar in size, NZ is approx 10% larger.

At least he had the decency to resign. Perhaps he should've suggested she was an optician or a teaching him about computer literacy l. Perhaps if he had worn a pandemic tie and told everyone to 'move on' the Telegraph and their readers would herald him as a genius

I don't disagree he was a div. I think he is probably as culpable for lack of credibility given to lockdown as Cummings is.

But I don't see how that discredits his work nor have I seen any evidence he's been proven wrong other than those cherry picking stats without adding any context.

'500,000' seems to present itself a lot without people noting that that was the figure without any intervention.

USA have less deaths than us if you adjust for population.
