Some big cities in Florida, Texas etc. New York has been a lot worse than Florida/Texas.That will be because most Republican states are millions of square miles of nothing.

Cases have been high for quite some time, they must have broken records for the numbers of tests around christmas as people wanted them prior to seeing family. The deaths still seem a bit low? In two weeks it will surely unfortunately increase. Is the bbc news right ?
Over 40,000 new cases today ??
The projection that I was told today was that it could easily be 50,000+ within a fortnight if the new strains spread North and West across the capital. Is the bbc news right ?

You can't bring China into this for reasons stated earlier in this thread.
New Zealand and Aus followed SARS model. All of Europe followed flu model.
SARS model is about isolating and eliminating. As an island, we could have done that by shutting borders, but our population density makes it a lot tougher than NZ and Aus, who also have better climates.
There's 4m people in NZ, in a country about 3 times the size of the UK, and half of them live in one City. Perth in Aus has registered hardly any cases - it's just so remote.
You've clearly never been to the west coast of the south island of NZ lol .
Yes, we have done well with managed quarantines for all international arrivals and our geographic remoteness has clearly helped. Ultimately though I fail to see how an elimination strategy, if implemented properly from the outset of the pandemic, couldn't of worked in the UK. Even if it was implemented only by region if there were COVID hot-spots.
Shut the covid factories. Tier 4 is absolutely pointless whilst millions of kids are crammed into poorly ventilated classrooms.
Same here.My lads classes have the windows open, even when the weather is like this. The kids and teachers wear their coats - seriously !
Same here.
It’s a ridiculous situation when you think about it.
My 8 year old wet himself one day as the kids were all queuing up to use the single toilet one at a time, socially distanced etc.
I was fuming as he got so upset about it as well.
Meanwhile, a leisurely walk around the shops, a back, sack and crack waxing, polished off by a bit of scran in a covid19 incubator selling muck is still available to all comers in the Tory poodle Liverpool City Region.
