Hope you manage to get things sorted mate and things don't get too tight money wise over Christmas to the point where your struggling to sort yourself out food wise.

Nah it won't be that bad to be honest but cheers mate. I get boxes of veg from an organic grocer that needs using up cheap and make my own bread. I'm a good cook so I can make a meal from most things but it will just have to be pretty basic which is not the Christmas I was hoping for but on the scale of things it's insignificant really and doesn't matter.

I'll still get all the veg to make a proper dinner and hopefully get a chicken or something. My cheese budget has been slashed which is my main tradegy ha.

Spot on mate, sounds like your good at improvising and making the best of a bad situation which is what a lot of folk might have to do.

What was your cheese budget? I bet it was more than a packet of dairylea cheese triangles wasnt it lol ;)

Haha after the Christmas dinner I usually survive happily on a diet of single malt and blue cheese until I have to go back to work.

I'll still have a stash of roquefort but it's unlikely to make it to boxing day ha.

Not a fan of the old blue cheeses myself mate but hopefully you manage to spread out your stash to last beyond boxing day!

Pain in the arse regarding not being able to get a refund on the tickets as well.

We were going to rent a car but it was 350 notes so that went out the window. Then my missus booked coach tickets. I'd have paid the extra 50 quid for the train personally instead of a 6 hour National Express nightmare fully masked lol.

It was 130 quid for the pair, feel like invoicing Boris for it really ha.

A man that can make a meal from most things are quite scarce and very valuable. Your missus is very fortunate!

How very convenient, a new super spreader strain of virus for Johnson to use as an excuse.
An excuse to deflect blame from 9mths of Lockdowns that came too late...and were lifted too early.
An excuse for a scatter gun approach to closures.
Yeah go to school, a well know vector for spreading coughs and sneezes, chicken pox etc.
Yeah all go to Uni...where 'Fresher's Flu' was known as an annual autumnal rite of passage.

And then last but not least, all the above aided and abetted by 'The Great British Public'
Large swathes of whom have an entitled...'it doesn't really apply to me its only for those other 'kwits'.
That's before you even get to the deniers, the contrarians, bolsies and the just plain thick.

Edit; present company excepted of course...mostly.

Haha well its a combination of having loved cooking since I was a child and being poor and having to make the most of ingredients and getting every possible bit of taste out of them.

It's one of the only good things I can think about not having any money. If I'd had luxury stuff and an endless store cupboard I would have got lazy and wouldn't have thought about what I was doing as much I suppose.

"Prof Anthony Staines has warned the country could face 1,000 cases each day by the end of December if the numbers surrounding Covid-19 continue to rise"

I'm so delighted that we have highly paid professors to tell us this, like me most people in the country were of the opinion that if infection numbers continued to rise the numbers would stay the same or even go down.. thanks for clearing things up professor.

Bet he had a good nickname at school though.

Shame these are the same blokes that have signed off on loads of stuff that hasn't worked

But the scientists haven't signed off anything though, they just advise.

And, that advise has been taken at the death weeks later when it should have been.

@tsubaki you have a valid point about the media and how they have tried to demonise the likes of Vallance for trying to save lifes.

Its worked in this case.
