Both Liverpool and Knowsley's infection rates have now ticked over 100 cases per 100,000 once again.

On Monday alone the city of Liverpool recorded 100 cases in a single day for the first time in three weeks.

Wirral has seen a sustained recent rise in cases and its infection level of 85.2 cases per 100,000 means that for the first time since September it is no longer the least affected borough in the region.

That title goes to Sefton, which has the lowest infection rate of 78.1 cases per 100,000.

These are the current infection rates for each borough

Halton - 125.2

Knowsley - 107.4

Liverpool - 101.0

St Helens - 122.9

Sefton - 78.1

Wirral - 85.2

Perhaps the most concerning data comes when you look at the week on week changes in infection levels.

Every borough saw an increase in numbers in the week up to Monday, which is the first time that's happened since the peak of the second wave in early October.

Wirral saw the biggest rise, with a 44.5% week on week increase, while Sefton's rate rose by 13%, Liverpool's by 12%, Knowsley by 10%, Halton by 3.8% and St Helens by 2.3%.

Overall the city region saw a 14% week on week infection level increase for the week upto this Monday.
Considering the quick testing was introduced over here I'm not surprised our numbers went up.

Certainly a concern tho.

With the new Tier 2 in parts of Bristol, there are parts of town now where restaurants can open on one side of a road, but not the other.

I fully expect that wont be be a problem, no sireee.

It gets better.

The Mall, the largest, and very popular out of town shopping centre near Bristol, is still in Tier 3. So anyone in most of Bristol, and every area around it, other than S Glos, have been told they shouldnt go there.

Sound.

Drove past my local GP earlier, and noticed they have a large marquee erected.

Asked Mrs R, who used to work there, if its all about the Vax, and she said yes. Apparently all of the GP surgeries have plans and stuff for all sorts of, what she reassuringly called, "disaster relief events".

"Oh when the surgery has ID'd the patients and the vax is delivered, it will be like Click and Collect, on speed"

They should have sacked Xmas off this year would have rathered lockdown into Dec and being let out in January.
I have no problem with that in theory but what we should have done after the 1st failed lockdwn was, prep, prep, prep and prep some more for respiratory illness season, I see no evidence than just knee here reaction day after day with no end game in sight. Total f'in shambles England will join Wales NI and Scotland in a harsh lockdown straight after this crimbo period, it should never have to got to this stage

It's not the whole story as the report stated (I left that part out). Over and above more testing there's an underlying upward trend.
