As Merseyside infection rate is now very low should the Liverpool area be moved to Tier 1. Would anyone know the difference? Does it mean wet pubs would be open? Anything else?
It's on the rise again in many areas, to a point where Tier 3 is warranted.

Wavertree East – 271 per 100,000
Halewood North 259 per 100,000
Garswood – 234 per 100,000
Tranmere – 230 per 100,000
West Park – 228 per 100,000

It'll get worse over the holidays and major restrictions required thereafter.

Where I live the number is the lowest in the whole of the uk at 34.1 in every 100,000.... yet on the 28th we will effectively go into a tier 4 blanket lockdown in wales

Been reading some government advice and scientific articles on masks today and the manhandling, over touching and mis wearing of them is leaving me worried.
Im sure its been addressed but I cant help thinking that an unsymptomatic person or people are likely to be touching the infected mask then touching other things, in shops for example, and this is increasing or at least continuing the transmission of the virus.
If anyone with more science knowledge than me can debunk this it would be great but it makes sense to me.
The principal way of spreading the virus is by moisture droplets from the breath/saliva of an infected person. If they wear a mask the risk of them passing on the virus by this method is very greatly reduced.
Sure they can pass it on by leaving virus on things they touch after coughing into their hands etc.
Protect yourself from surface virus by regular use of hand gel and washing your hands frequently.

Thats the way ive been seeing it and acting, made sense till i read a government advice notice on masks and the issues around misuse of masks came clearer.
Ive been tending to hitch my mask up and fiddle with it when out shopping but i see more mask wearing than people squeezing the gel on hands on supermarkets. The use of hand gel is not being treated with importance. People seem to be thinking that wearing the mask is the be all and end all of protection and defeat of the virus which worries me.

Hospital figures - 429 deaths were announced today, up 122 on yesterday and up 7 on last Wednesday. 369 deaths were in English hospitals, up 76 on yesterday and up 25 on last week. The 7 day rolling average rises to an even 327

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 612 deaths were announced today, up 106 on yesterday and up 79 on last Wednesday. The 7 day rolling average rises to an even 422

For the 60 day cut off, 722 deaths were announced today, up 119 on yesterday and up 128 on last Wednesday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 483.29

So the bloated moptop reckons we should all aim for a 'small Christmas' and avoid making use of the full allowances around social mixing over Christmas. Otherwise we pose risks to relatives and the NHS.

WHAT? I'm absolutely flabbergasted that this bunch of clowns think this is okay. If there are genuinely significant risks the rules should be changed. Surely they've twigged people are goons and you can't rely on them being sensible?

No, of course not. Lockdown round 3 looms....

Interesting read, especially on how BAME have been targeted throughout this. Obviously the easy thing to do is blame systematic racism, and tied to living conditions etc there may be some truth there.

There’s a deeper issue though about how there are cultural issues that are creating problems in the UK that we don’t want to get involved in, but inevitably need to do so. There’s also the problem of fake news and it’s spread.

Wales seem to be doing it as the whole country rather then regional, is that right?
I sometimes think the Welsn minister fella wants to do it different then England for the sake of being different,

Isn’t that like an extra 0.35% of the population having the virus?

I think targeting those communities, especially given the context of a vaccine and a pandemic and the riots over the summer, just plays on the distrust of authority within BAME communities. Which is totally understandable given how BAME are treated by authorities.

In fairness its been like that for months when you look at very small local areas like that. You only need two families in a area that small to get it and the numbers start looking really bad. There are always going to be hotspots if the virus is circulating.

Generally the figures here have been very consistent since we dropped into tier 2. Its not dropping significantly but it hasn't increased yet.
