Will probably be the middle of December before we see any effect of moving to the tier system. The figures probably still will drop further because of the lockdown. We're just seeing the lag effect.

The new tier 2 is pretty similar to the old tier 3 and the numbers were dropping in Liverpool from tier 3. I think Merseyside will be relatively fine for the rest of the winter. The area has peaked earlier than other areas, I think it will be similar to London in the first wave.
Will be another national lockdown the end of January.

I think they'll just put everywhere in tier 3 or create a new tier 4 which will effectively be a full lockdown.
They seem to want to avoid a lockdown moving forward.
Its a possibility, especially if people go a bit crazy over Christmas and New Year.

Meanwhile I am made up by watching Brexiteer after Brexiteer parade on TV and demand that cost-benefit analysis must be done and that it must support government policy. Absolute hypocrisy on an entertaining scale.
Furlough extended to end of the FY makes this a strong possibility.

They are frantically shutting stuff down as cases start to surge again.
And people still think it’s acceptable to have a relaxation of our rules for Christmas.

I think that's baked into the Tier two areas deal: this government know Merseyside in particular will utterly hammer the next 4 weeks and the infection rate will be through the roof. Then they'll cap it all off again, put Merseyside back into tier 3 and pat some other region on the head and drop them down to tier two.

Maybe they're of the mind if you shut down by area in Wales it's such a small country they think people will just flee to other areas.
