This Oxford vaccine sounds a bit flakey.

IMO the other 2 sound a bit flakey. Pfizer/BioNT said they were 90%, then a week later Moderna is all like we're 95%, then Pfizer said hey actually we are 95% too!

The science is done, its all in the hands of marketing now, nothing could possibly go wrong.

I get that. However, their claims will look ridiculous if the CDC in the US send it back to the drawing board or license it conditionally. It's hard to see ow they;re not being up front. The Oxford claims veered from 60% to 90% dependent on mix of dosages, and only in a subset of those tested. That's erratic.

the oxford vaccine has actually had some scrutiny and reviews made public, the others haven't

Do you have any science to back up your belief that having bubbles of eight people spending up to a week in each other’s houses won’t significantly increase virus spread ?

Because there is plenty to suggest it will.
How many people spend a week in someone's house for christmas? Rather than just pop in or stay for a day?

But.....

What if none of them have the virus? What if all these people go and have a test before they go there and know they are negative? What if there are only 6 of them which adheres to the rule of 6?

What if loads of people socially distance when visiting?

Lots of people. Not all families live in the same town.

I've no idea on that, but WHO yesterday seemed unimpressed with what's been put forward for scrutiny so far.
the oxford vaccine, its not great, at least we know that, its the other 2 I'm not so sure about.

though a covid vaccine won't be a huge moneymaker like say that pill you should "ask you doctor about" for your "restless leg" the pharma industry in the states is hard wired to push for getting approval ASAP and we'll pay the cost of bidness fine if its a catastrophe later.

“No” then...

Pfizer's vaccine and Moderna's will have to be passed over here too. The MHRA will need to license it, and the EU will have theirs. Even if it falls just short of what they claim it'll be a big help. Ilm not sure we can say that about AstraZenica - which is a worry given that our old and vulnerable are slated to get it.

Well I don't know the numbers to say yes and you equally don't know the numbers to be so confident it won't.

As an example at Christmas normally we have 8-10 family members from Southampton come to stay up here till after New Years.

“No” then...

If I posted the sky is blue , you two would be the first to explain to me how according to science I was wrong.

Give it a rest will you. Disagreeing for the sake of it is just wasting your own time lol

I mean, you're not exactly defending your corner here are you? Complaining people challenge you on an Internet forum begs the question why are you on an Internet forum?

Because tbh I don't care about defending anything.

I'm not complaining anyone challenging me, you are again just disagreeing with me for the sake of it? Nothing what you said or what I said originally makes sense put together.

I post a simple thing of saying the government saying it's ok to do something people will do anyway has turned into 'well loads of people have 8 people stay over at christmas'.......

Like what's the need? You aren't having a discussion with me , it's arguing for the sake of arguing.

That is the equivalent of saying to me , no the sky isn't blue because loads of people think it's green. It's pointless isn't it?
