I reckon in hindsight this will all look like an over reaction. Once we have all the data , once we know everything about the virus and say 10-20 years in the future.

It doesn't change the here and now or the need for restrictions and vaccines and the like.

Just , reading that 90% of deaths being over 60 and 95% total having underlying health issues. At some point in the future there will be a little bit of hindsight on that front I think.

All we can do is vaccinate, wear masks and just get through it first though.
Are you kidding, just because of you're age or illness it doesn't matter ive witnessed all of it mate ,no space in hospital for people with other illnesses because of the pandemic overreaction are you kidding, figures don't matter mate people are dying before there time.also what about people with life effecting disorders who can't get them resolved they've been abandoned they won't be on them figures. Knobhead!

Wish I could say to my missus that it's all been a bit of an overreaction. 12 hour shifts, overtime on top of overtime, into month 9 of that now. Wearing full PPE gear for every patient, during the summer sweltering, now sometimes caught in the piss down rain. Patients whose she's known for years passed away, a couple of staff from the hospital passed away, a few staff shielding, either trying to protect themselves or loved one's which in turn puts a burden on those who don't/won't /can't. A few on the edge after such a slog and demand over all the months of work.

Yep, I see it every day, live it every day, that look on my wife's face from another day where there isn't enough hours in the day to be able to do what she wants to do.

I'd love to say to my missus in 6 months time, "hindsight eh love, what an over reaction all that was. Shame about all the 65 years olds, oh and that 40 year old woman who was as fit as a fiddle, oh and the 24 lad who has been in hospital for 3 weeks, oh and our mates best mate, died at 42 but it is what it is isn't it"

Excess deaths.
Which still doesn't change the fact it's a pandemic and we all have to follow rules , wear masks and worry about one another.

Yes knobhead.

When 20 years from now history reflects a time when a country was shut down despite the fact the majority of the ones affected from doing such a thing were under minimal risk. When jobs were lost, businesses closed , mental health at an all time high, hospital services ground to an almost halt, that list goes on and on.

So perspective 10/20 years in the future will paint all of this completely different to future generations given what we already know and what we may find out in the future.

Call me a knobhead all you want but you know I'm not talking too far from the truth about that.

@Leylo

More to the point on that matter.

Do you really think secondary school students 20 years from now will refer to all of this the same way most people are now? Or the thousands of students who were out partying throughout this pandemic?

Because these are generations of people who will offer a completely different perspective of events, not re writing them. So all of the data proving how little risk these young people are to dying from the virus, do you not think they will all grow up and maybe not see this the same way you do?

So yeah , call me a knobhead for saying that , doesn't bother me. I can see millions of people 20 years from now seeing these last 8 months in a completely different perspective because they already have that now, they will just be the same age as us by then.

Ok right were do I start, I've had 2 parents with cancer through this pandemic 1 just died the other about to right my kids students we've saw with our own eyes what's been happening in hospitals its like a war zone people with the virus and without ,consultants making life and death decisions. Acting like god to a point because it's at breaking point. People trying to get a glimpse of their loved ones through hostpital windows because they can't go in ive saw it all mate done it. Well in 20 years will students remember it too bloody right because they've probably lost a grandparent or parent at the time or knows someone who did. It will go down in history oh yes no one will forget I'm sure .this is a terrible virus killing over 50000 people up to know don't just dismiss it .

you see it’s this thinking that is absolutely mental to me.

My mum is over 60 and have a number it underlying health conditions. It’s like in your head that it’s not as serious because it’s only people like her that will be dying.

You know, once you hit 60, it’s unlikely that you don’t have an underlying health condition. It’s what happens with age.

so what you are really saying is f*** old people.
