It's just a different name for the same thing we've been doing since the first lockdown ended.

And being honest I don't know of anyone who's paying the blindest bit of notice to it.

Which brings me back to my point a few weeks ago - either lockdown or don't; half-arsing it means people ignore it and, even more dangerously, means people will be complacent if we ever did have to put a "proper" lockdown in place again.

Schools being open alone makes this whole thing a total joke, nevermind everything you've just listed there.
The thing about the school.

Going back 2 months ago there was cases in my lads school almost one a week, none in his year but like you would expect , positive cases.

Since lockdown and half term, there has been no cases at all , 3-4 weeks and counting. There hasn't been any outbreaks in schools that I am aware of since they were all over the news weeks ago and even my daughter's school has had nothing. This is despite the social bubbles that get destroyed with half the lads playing football before they start school.

Schools may be super spreaders but since this lockdown , I haven't seen any signs of it.

Same at my lads school, went mad the first few weeks, tested them all week before last ( 1000 plus ) - one case in the whole school.

The police can't enforce it. They've admitted they won't even try. As long as you aren't having 50+ people raves on Christmas Day, just get on with it and be sensible.

If the government encouraged common sense at this point, people would be receptive. Telling them they can't have Christmas will just get a swift collective middle finger in response; it's pointless.

Yeah, seems like a lot of people can’t comprehend that unfortunately.

Biggest risk I’ll be taking is possibly going to my aunties for Christmas with no more that two households mixing. Other than that I won’t be seeing anybody else.

As you say, it’s the best course of action now for the government to give a bit of leeway on the hope common sense is applied across the board.

It still won’t be a normal Christmas and surely the only restrictions lifted will be households mixing.

I'll have a regular test if available. Right now it's only private and they're north of £200 which I don't have spare.
I'll be due another one end of the week I think following the home tests we got sent out.

More than happy to do it , friend of mine casually mentioned he had as well so hopefully a lot of Liverpool are taking the offer up.

I've seen them this year. I stand at the gate and chat to them once every week.

Again, I wouldn't want to live with the thought I could have passed something on without knowing that killed them. I also know my grandparents and know they wouldn't want me to have that on my conscience.

Don't really get why that's so hard for you to understand.
That’s not hard to understand at all that’s your choice
I think differently

School age kids (secondary) have highest incidence rate in the whole population right now.

They aren't "super spreaders" but they facilitate secondary and tertiary situations which impacts infection rates - e.g. using public transport, going into sweet shops on way home, going to grandparents house while parents in work til 5 and so on.

It’s down to the individual(s) it’s their choice.

No one should look down their nose or criticise anyone who chooses to see their relatives and loved ones over Christmas and the same applies to those that don’t want to risk seeing them.

It’s up to you and you alone.

Exactly mate.

Took 3 weeks but queuing systems for shops seem to be back up and running again. At least they are by ours.

Not sure why it took 3 weeks to implement them again but there you go.
