Families should be able to visit loved ones who are in care homes in a Covid-safe way during the lockdown in England, the government has said.

New guidance says measures such as floor-to-ceiling screens, visiting pods and window visits should be used to allow contact.

Care homes, especially those which have not allowed visits since March, will be encouraged and supported to provide safe visiting opportunities, the Department for Health and Social Care said.

Plans are also being developed to allow specific family and friends to visit care homes supported by testing, the government said.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said: "It is vital high quality, compassionate care and infection control remains at the heart of every single care home, to protect staff and resident’s lives, but we must allow families to reunite in the safest way possible."

Why the hell are we even bothering? Absolutely nonsense. Fit, healthy people can’t see their families, but pile in to the care homes and spread it about a bit more.

Did you even bother to digest the guidelines for visiting care homes?

Hopefilly this doesn’t jump back in a mutated form to humans. Or a form which any vaccine currently in development would not be effective against.

Also the fact the fur industry is still so big is a global disgrace.

Yes mate. I'd expect them to get lower as well until next week, based on the kids being off school for a week.

So wouldn't surprise me to see them climb up again soon enough.
i know what I said about tier 3 but thinking about it, I normally work in Hull which also has a big uni population but they’re having an explosion in the last 2 weeks. just seems so random, or 3 has worked

Would be great if tier 3 is actually having an effect. My wife's workload of Covid patients within the team she works with is worse than in the 1st wave. This was something she was predicting though before the end of the summer.
