Government needlessly pishing more money away on furlough and business support grants for something that doesn't even contribute massively to the spread of the virus.

Don't think they have ever been considered forecasts. They were modelling different scenarios.

I am utterly baffled now.
For months and months and months, I have been saying the South West has largely been Covid Ok. Even when Devon, Cornwall and Somerset were dumped on by Birmingham, not much came of it.
Now, after following all the rules, we have the largest surge of cases apparently. Now, thats from a low base, so hopefully the media frenzy will die down, but the only thing thats changed is the Unis coming back in the large cities and towns. As in, the schools opening were for local kids, the Unis less so.

That is the other version of the graph that may or may not be accurate to now , I have no idea of current cases a day tbh.
But it doesn't have the dramatic vertical line or direct comparison to other countries who we have been compared to this whole time to show how ridiculous it was.
I did have a decent source for said graph but you would have to probably go back a good number of pages to find it !

Not really sure why they decided on this approach. The 4000 a day deaths was very unlikely, nowhere in the world has numbers like that. They should have just said that hospitals are always 90% full in the winter and we're trying to avoid going above 100% etc.
