Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

There’s still a lot of mystery to it though.

Me and my youngest shared a car with my missus for over an hour , when she was developing the symptoms and neither of us got it.

Yet my eldest lad who spends most of his time plugger into the Matrix in his bedroom and has minimal contact with anyone, got it.

My uncle has it aged 59, got diabetes and is asymptomatic.

I agree with the mystery part of it, but my mate at the LSTM suggested that it's best to consider it in terms of similar viral infections and their transportation.

There's two elements there: did enough of the virus (viral load) enter into your system or any at all? Did underlying health issues and immune response play apart?

Most people can get through life without knowing many of their underlying health issues if their minor and our immune response is a very complex things.

Your eldest may have inhaled a specific release of the virus (facing your wife or a specific breath in) or his immune may not have responded in the same way.

I have a shocking immune system so I’m quite surprised I haven’t had it (or had it noticeably) yet. I could probably catch period pains somehow.

Be intresting to see what % ok uk have been tested..

is there stats on this? Suppose impossible because people have multiple ones etc

do you need symtoms to be tested how does it work?

just thinkin from the people who dont show symtoms must be LOADS of them who have had it bu dont show up on heard immunity tests because they havent been tested

Well they say in the peak there was 100k new casea daily and now they estimate there's around 10k. Would take a long time to get through the majority of the UK population based on those numbers.

Wonder why some people get no symptoms and others get it severe?

Cant see it being virus load as surely if you caught it off someone asymptomatic they wouldn't have the sort of load to make you severe?

Very odd
Seems there may not be any rhyme of reason behind it. My staff member who has it has a cough , not even a bad one. In their 50s, nothing too special about them.

Whereas others have a much worse case of it.

Boris "EVERYBODY got a bit kind of complacent and blasé"

What planet is this buffoon on?

How can people stick to rules that are totally nonsensical, ever changing and utterly baffling? Apparently I can't nip in my mums for a piss on the way home from work but it's fine to walk into a boozer rammed full of people for one (but it must be before 10pm). Laughable.

When the government are continually fudging figures, being deliberately misleading and outright lying, how can the public be expected to listen to their garbage?

I didn't think they were doing too badly in the early stages considering all of the unknowns. That has been slowly eroded to the point of utter contempt for them now.

Sick to death of it.
Given that the prime case of infections is still focused on the household yet I have seen proof this week that households aren't the big spreader they are meant to be.

This household thing is a myth I believe now. Yes spreading between family members is a thing , can't exactly lock your kids in the shed if you test positive for example. But I believe it's still this notion that everyone is throwing parties that has this evil household idea in place.

Given that I now have 8 members of staff left this week because of how many are isolating or being made to isolate because of 1 case in the office , I can imagine offices / workplaces alone up and down the country have a much bigger hit rate of infection / isolation.

It's funny because people still pick and choose what they think is right from the government. People still believe that going to visit a family member is dangerous when their workplaces are being decimated by potential cases.

I'm not saying shut workplaces down but maybe making going to see people illegal whilst you keep them open is just nonsensical given you can meet up with people in any other indoor scenario including offices / pubs / shops.

I’m currently coming towards the end of my isolation period after a positive test
Feels like a mild flu with occasional waves of feeling a lot worse
Tbh my verdict is we wasted the time with lockdown, should have had an extended shielding program instead while letting it burn through people like me to get a level of immunity
Boris and co saw daily mail headlines and their bumholes went and we’ve now wasted all this time and trashed the economy to be barely better prepared

probably something to do with you lot being out and about all the time and catching similar viruses
In Germany there’s a cohort of people who looked vulnerable due to demographics but were almost entirely immune due to encountering a similar virus in the 30s-40s IIRC

He may have touched a contaminated part of the car and then ingested it - who knows. But she's reiterated a lot that health is the big one for what she can see.
Would she recommend any health checks you could do to assess your health? Like blood tests or something?

My youngest lad had nine hospital admissions with bronchioulitus from being born to the age of two, which ranged from a few days to three weeks.

He has a suppressed immune system due to his disability and we were very very worried that he if he got it it, it could be very serious.

Yet he never caught it ?
