It seems shut the pubs early , thats the reaction.

I don't think this will be a weekly occurance though. As much as you can plaster that video everywhere and go omg young people are killing us all. Next week that crowd won't be there because they will click on what shutting early is and just not bother to be out that late.

Look like lots of people just drank the same alcohol in the shorter time, who would have actually thought... Just wait for the horror of the professional offended that alcohol is social disinhibitor and thus social distancing becomes is non existent.

It's cause and effect. The first Saturday night since the regulation has come in, course young people want to push it as far as they can go. Same as the video in London where people were flooding to the tube in crowds.

Half those people on town last night will just swerve staying out next week because it was a pain on the arse to get home.

Even little kids do what you tell them not to do, without making a habit of it.

Not that I agree with them at all but this was always going to happen at somepoint, what with brexit, mass unemployment due to covid, now more restrictions. They were bound to kick off. However it is irresponsible and the numbers are going to shoot up and people are going to lose loved ones.

I don't want to sound all I'm alright Jack, but I'm glad I had my going out days during the nineties and not have to go through this now.

Add to that the fact as we’ve seen with the BLM marches, it wouldn’t appear that it spreads in outdoor crowds.

The youth have always rebelled, it’s what they do.

Human psychology that grouping together is basically inate need, the younger (18-30) you are the stronger the urge, there are exceptions such as autism or older age and personality type, however, people will just group elsewhere.

Socially distancing in the great outdoors.

It would appear that the chances of catching it outdoors in situations like that are pretty low / to non existent , plus that`s at the bottom and from experience, the " crowd " starts to space out pretty quickly once people get moving.

What that clip doesn`t show is how windy it was either, which will have a bearing too - Snowdown is very rarely free from wind !

I walked up Scaffell Pike the first weekend after lockdown and it was very busy, but once everyone got moving it was fine.

Things need to be looked at in their entirety .

Doesn't look like fun to me.

What? Are you saying there’s a thing such as context and we shouldn’t simply jump to rash, subjective conclusions based on a snippet of information?

I`m sure `we`ll similar stuff posted in the next few weeks, as it`s cross country season and a lot of the big events through their own hard work are going ahead.

( staggered starts in bubbles of six / no prize giving / numbers through the post, so no registration / masks to be worn at the start and finish etc )

My brother did a 10k run last week (or the week before), and the setup was very similar to what you describe there with the start staggered over a fair while.

He described is as more akin to a Strava challenge with a better atmosphere, but he was thankful he could get racing again.

The amount of work the organisers and volunteers have put into to make them safe and comply with the regs is phenomenal and a testimony to their commitment.

Tim Fallon, the MP for Westmorland is running a 10k at a big event in Coniston next weekend to show his support, which is a really nice touch.

At least you have a government doing something, however small it may seem to you, for them to protest. Meanwhile, all across the American south today, college football games have been being played in front of crowds of 20k+.
We have a government who killed 60,000 people in the spring by leaving the doors wide open to the virus.

You have 6x our population but only 3.5x the number of covid19 deaths.
