There's been plenty of that, hasn’t there? It's like people get off on outsmarting a dimwitted government. The whole ’I'll have a funeral for the Turkey at Christmas’ is just cringe.

It's frankly pathetic. The government has been crap in a whole bunch of ways, but they are also operating in an incredibly complex situation in which mistakes are going to be inevitable. Whatever they do, however, will be impossible without each of us doing our best to behave responsibly. It feels at times like people are taking a stance that because the government has been crap, that excuses them to do whatever the heck they like. It's bonkers. Utterly bloody bonkers.

It appears like where you're going with this is to deliberately pick holes in regulations that will never be able to cover every eventuality, to excuse people being absolute knobbers when given a bit of responsibility to behave sensibly so that the economy and our way of life isn't too heavily disrupted during what is still a global pandemic. I mean ffs people. Never heard such whining shithousery as in the last few days. It's not that blooming hard and these new regulations are incredibly lax (indeed so lax that I'm almost certain that they will be severely expanded as we get into winter - and that will happen precisely because of people like you trying to pick fecking holes in them rather than just acting sensibly).

lot to agree with here, but I think there is a point about inconsistent or seemingly arbitrary guidance, not landing with people, or giving people an excuse to not to follow the guidance.

A current example is the local lockdown guidance. It’s not restricted to meet others from a different household in a pub, but it is advised against and landlords are told to take steps to stop people from different households meeting there. Just from a communication point of view, that’s unnecessarily muddy.

But why would you try circumvent them is the point he’s getting at? They’re very simple to follow and just because you might be able to find a loophole it doesn’t mean you should. There’s no pot of gold at the end of this for trying to game the regulations is there. In fact there’s the exact opposite of a pot of gold at the end.

It’s not rocket science: follow the rules as they’re laid out.
Tell that to everyone breaking them.

If people are having house parties and raves , or having everyone round then it's not beyond the realm of possibility that people out there will break the rules. I've had to cancel a couple of plans this week due to the lock down yet others in the northwest won't have.

Whether you like it or not, people are out breaking rules of this every day. So why give people any room to do that , if you are going to apply measures then apply them so there isn't a way around them. If it wa easy enough to arrange , people would be out grouse shooting just to break the rules.

No you shouldn't find loopholes but it doesn't mean all people will just sit at home and not think the rules don't apply to them

But isn't the problem that people aren't following the rules?

So if the rules are so easily circumnavigated then that means they are open for abuse.

I love this line , people like me. Why people like me Bruce? The fella sat at home following rules but pointing it out on the internet.

If the problem is people not following guidelines but the guidelines are flawed then that's the bigger problem . You expect everyone to follow the rules blindly yet there are people having illegal raves in lockdown measures for a random silly example.

Perhaps if the government want people following the rules to the letter, they actually do their job and not litter them with loopholes.

Yes, people like you, because you're nit picking every little thing to excuse people acting like cretins. Like because there isn't a specific regulation saying don't have an illegal rave that this somehow justifies it, when every tit there knows full well that this isn't something they should be doing. Leave the government to be responsible for what they have to do (which they are doing badly), and take a bit of responsibility for what you have to do.

Bruce I would say 95% of the people (possibly more) have followed the rules from what I’ve seen. Just because people disagree with it on here or social media it doesn’t mean they’re not following them, yet here we are after months of walking around with masks on and social distancing facing a second wave.

You're obviously not a responsible father.

Why is nit picking a flaw encouraging people? Are you suggesting my post on the internet will influence others?

There is kinda a regulation on not having an illegal raves , the name implies it Bruce, illegal.

Can i ask you why the hostility to what I say? I've said numerous times over the months I am following guidelines so you are replying to the good little citizen that you expect everyone to be. Just because I'm pointing it out, you seem hostile to it when you know full well people actively break the rules on a daily basis.

Just because someone is adhering to all the rules can see it, no need to be hostile about it.

You've said you wouldn't have a vaccine, which I wouldn't really regard as "following the guidance" tbh. There are people in the medical community busting their arse to try and make us safe, and all we have to do is follow some pretty simple rules, one of which will be to have the vaccine when it's available. Yet instead, we have people moaning about the rules not covering every eventuality or the vaccines being poison.

You'll have to forgive me, but practically every one of your posts over the past month or so has been skeptical about this, that, or the other. Heck, you made a huge point about not doing anything if neighbours are breaching the regulations you complain about, and then complain that the regulations don't enforce behaviours on people. You've made it quite clear that you think this whole thing is overblown.

Me choosing not having a vaccine is a personnel choice maybe I won’t have a choice when there is a vaccine but if there is then I will choose not too. (Why do you have a problem with that?) if everyone has it and some people don’t then there’s no danger because everyone will be vaccinated right?
It’s pathetic that people on here can’t grasp that people have different opinions from themselves and have to resort to finger pointing or name calling.

I won't have a vaccine but it's fine because everybody else will have a vaccine.

You may want to look at stats for measles in France the last 10 years to see how this works out.

So what you`re saying, is that you`d like the government to go full on CCP, as advocated by cuddly Dave on here, rather than politely asking people to behave themselves ?
