Just thinking out loud here.

The government advising people to call the police on people not adhering to these rule of 6.

Ok, so say people do, what number do you think they are going to be ringing when told call the police?

No, but there are far better answers than the ones they’ve come up with. A properly staffed, properly funded system that did track and trace would have cost a fortune and would have required many tens of thousands of people to work. It would have been much more likely to prevent a lockdown though, and would have given people confidence to keep society open.

They certainly do not inspire confidence.

It’s ridiculous . They might be interested if there are 30 odd people in a house but good luck ringing saying I think I’ve seen an eighth person nip into next door .

The whole situation is surreal to be honest and what exactly do the police do if the occupier declines to open the door ? Genuine question I’m assuming the police have no right to force entry under this legislation so what happens then ?

Christ.

Not sure the Government will survive a second wave of this; the first wave was defined by unplanned incompetence but this has been expensively put together and is approaching chocolate fire guard levels of usefulness.
I've mentioned her a few times now, but maybe HARDING, Johnson and Cummings should be replacing vulgar expletives around about now.

I'm sure they can as it's law isn't it? No longer guidelines. They can even arrest people for breaking it, presumably party organisers and the like .

But the question is , will they?

One thing is for sure, 999 will be hammered over this

The thing is on the pub front I agree. I'm not being deliberately obtuse, I posted a week or so ago about some cases my mum knew and they were all connected by pubs.

However bigger picture is that a few months furlough is not the same as 30-40 years of potential earnings that would be lost if a business did go under by being closed.
Businesses close all the time.

Businesses close all the time.

Yes and people lose their jobs, there is a big knock on effect to the local areas where these folk live, and generally people suffer.

Not to mention the emotional side of people losing a business they had potentially built from nothing and put 30 or 40 years of hard work into. Most businesses in this country are ran by ordinary everyday people who had the bravery and guts to go for it and try to make a better life for themselves.

If we let businesses go under then a lot of them won't come back. You can't just shrug your shoulders and say so what.

Well I’d suggest they probably can’t , without seeing it though I’m guessing . The law doesn’t simply allow the police to enter people’s houses at Will there are specific circumstances that have to be fulfilled to make it lawful whether that relates to arresting for a specific offence (not every offence ) , knowing That the offender is inside or if a warrant is needed . The police can’t simply smash your door down because they think you’re committing any offence inside .

2600ish cases today, at the moment we don't know if this could rise by a thousand or two tomorrow or decrease by a thousand. I'm hoping things start to peter out again and the good thing for now is the death rate is still low but it could jump over the next month or two.

you understand that businesses aren’t like electrical goods they are made up of people , most of which aren’t blood sucking murdering profiteers . Whether those people are the business owners putting their heart, soul and often homes into it or the staff that are part of it . If these myriad of business go to the wall people will suffer and for a socialist to glibly dismiss the inevitable struggles of people affected by that fries my brain but I’m obviously just relieved you haven’t suggested shooting them and charging the families for the bullets .

They can, but only under a very narrow set of circumstances and having a shin dig for over 6 people isn`t one of them lol
