Anyone actually think the new English rules will halve the magical rising 'r' ?

No bloody way imo.

Changing guidelines to law to mitigate 1+ ; government sorting testing regime out during the trough; having a functional track and trace; not using the pandemic as a cover to enrich mates and instead ensure there's sufficient PPE --- these things could work.

6 or 7 rule sans card is a chocolate fireguard.

plus taxi drivers , delivery men , breweries (large and independent ) , cleaners , bar and waiting staff , food producers and suppliers and on and on .

i’m not suggesting that a scenario won’t occur where another local or even larger scale lockdown may be needed but to simply dismiss these people as ‘profiteers ‘ without a second thought for their livelihoods or those that rely on them seems remarkably arrogant. Another long term heavy duty lockdown and you’ll see a lot of these type of businesses go to the wall.

Unfortunately in his world, he won`t be happy until we all return to living off the land, live in collectives and walk around in sack cloth.

Not sure if one can do that from the BBC headline alone mate. If it averages at 1 per pub serving drinks/preparing food at any one time, that's not great. I don't think they close and clean down either, do they?

Interesting that the Czech Health Minister has said today that those who have been in contact with someone confirmed as having it won't have to quarantine providing they both had masks on. Not sure if any other countries are taking such an approach, nor indeed how you'll prove whether someone really was wearing a mask.

I think they’ve got up near a 1000 premises including hotels so it’s a lot less than one a pub .
